Malaysia will soon be at the forefront of Asia’s travel industry as the iconic Harrods Hotel will begin construction in Kuala Lumpur soon. Scheduled to be completed in 2018, the Harrods Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is also said to be the first Harrods Hotel to be completed. The hotel will be build on a site located strategically at the intersection of Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Conlay, at the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.

The opening of Harrods Hotel in Kuala Lumpur will not only bring a globally renowned symbol of excellence here to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it will also put Malaysia on the global map of tourism, on par with other Harrods Hotel locations like London in the United Kingdom and Costa Smeralda in Italy.

H.E. Dr Hussain Ali Al-Abdulla, Vice Chairman of Qatar Holdings, which owns Harrods Group said, “Harrods continues to grow from strength to strength since our acquisition in 2010. This diversification into hospitality is a part of Harrods’ long-tem expansion plan to become a global enterprise that defines the luxury retail and leisure sector”.

According to Dr Hussain, Malaysia was chosen as Qatar Holdings’ favorite destinations for the stability of the Malaysian government and its pragmatic policies, the fact that Malaysia is an attractive travel destination, and the abundance of skilled and highly-trained workforce.

The Harrods Hotel is an integral component of Kuala Lumpur’s newest integrated development that spans 5.48 acres and will comprise two residential towers, an office building and a retail podium, with direct connectivity to the award-winning Pavilion Kuala Lumpur mall. Apart from diversity to the hospitality, leisure and retail offers within the tourism hub of Bukit Bintang, Harrods and its integrated development will attract tourists from far and wide, helping Malaysia achieve a top 20 economic growth rate by 2020.
