If there’s two things that go together hand-in-hand, it’s fashion and music. The combination of it together is a work of art, and what better way to define that with a talented musician to represent a brand. Here are some fashionable musicians, who represent both music and fashion, and rock at it fashionably!
Azealia Banks
This young rapper from Harlem is a booming star. Without her own official album out yet (just a mix tape, Fantasea), Azealiawas even chosen to model in an ad for Alexander Wang’s T Fall 2012 campaign in summer. He said “she exudes a certain rawness that makes her a very unique talent”. She even appears next to Ellie Goulding in ASOS’s recent holiday campaign, and even has a her own inspired lipstick shade by cosmetic giant, MAC.
Janelle Monae
The beautiful Monae was given the coveted ‘Covergirl’ title. The stylish singer did not bow down to wearing her hair down like most traditional Covergirls you’ve seen, but she rocked her pomp and tuxedo, making it ridiculously cool!
Lykke Li
The eccentric Swedish songstress with her husky voice and angelic face became one of the faces of Levi’s Curve ID Collection, the jeans that’s made to fit your shape, not size. In 2012, she signed with Viva Model Management.
Lana Del Rey
If you’ve not heard of Lana Del Rey, then you really need to get out of that shell. Upon her immediate spotlight given to her, Next Model Agency caught her, leading her to star in H&M’s fall and winter line, and then became the face of Jaguar F-Type car. The girl’s even got a Mulberry bag named after. That’s how awesome she is.
Pete Doherty
The former face of The Libertines and frontman of Babyshambles was under the spotlight when he became Kate Moss’ new man candy. But despite his destructive battle with drugs, it still didn’t stop him from becoming the iconic rock star that he is, with fashion. Pete became the face of Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2007/2008 fashion ad campaign, whose photos have even been compared to Marlon Brando.
Solange Knowles
Solange may not be as popular as her big sister, Beyonce, but this singer-turned-model certainly has a good name in the fashion world. She was a brand ambassador for Armani, has Rimmel cosmetics under her belt, and now models for J.Crew’s sister chain, Madewell. You go, girl!
Karen Elson
Karen may have been best known as a model, but you can’t expect the wife of musician, Jack White to not be musically-inclined right? In the 90’s, Karen performed with former Smashing Pumpkin’s member, James Iha, performed together, and also performed a haunting number with Melissa Auf der Maur. Karen has recently released her own album, and is rather active in the music scene along with the her fashion projects.
Carla Bruni
The wife of the French President is not only beautiful, but truly talented. Carla started her career as a model first, but gave it up in the late 90’s to focus on a music career. Her songs have appeared in indie-flick (500) Days of Summer, and even lent her vocals to the Serge Gainsbourg tribute album, Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited.
