British footwear label Dr. Martens opened its first Malaysian flagship store at The Gardens, Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur last month, giving us a taste of its rebellious fashion statement. Founded in the 60s, the brand was associated with several subcultures a decade later, with everyone from the punks, ska, grunge to the mods embracing Dr. Martens as a symbol of individual identity and independent spirits.
The flagship store at The Gardens carries a wide range of Dr. Martens footwear for both male and female, displaying the latest collection as well as the standard originals. Various memorabilia such as the British flag and traditional shoe-making equipment are placed all over the store, giving customers a feeling of stepping into an authentic English boot factory.
Dr. Martens A/W12 collection
For Autumn/Winter 2012, Dr. Martens brings out the Crafted collection – combining a selection of high quality materials and improving the silhouettes of the brand’s renowned boot.
Streetwear meets formal with the elegant Steel 3-eye show in Quilon leather, offering men a vintage style to go with their suits. Other sleek looks in the men’s Crafted collection are shoes in the durable Harris Tweed and Lochcarron Tartan with two-tone Arcadia leather.
For the girls, Dr. Martens introduces new variations of classic styles in high shine patens and metallic Anilmorbido leathers. These are available in the tweed and tartan options, as well.
