There’s something comforting about coming home to a nicely lit home, with clean cut furnishing, then minimalist home decor is the thing for you. After all, Leonardo da Vinci did say that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The modern minimalist approach has become a favorite among the women, with elegant decor and most importantly, space.

Here’s eight simple ways to help you nail that minimalist look for your home.

1. Prioritize Your Taste

Think about your color palette, the balance of colors, the furniture you like, but most importantly, think about what you envision your place to look like. If you like crisp white walls, opt for furnitures with darker shades. You also want it to be elegant, without looking over-decorated.

2. Create Space

The whole idea of the minimalist approach in interior, is to leaving as much space in the house. So, de-clutter your home and get rid of the old things you don’t need anymore.

3. Choose Lined Furnitures

We don’t mean stripes, but we mean that your decor should consist of simple lines, not curves. Go for horizontal, vertical or inclined decor, square furnitures, and simple shapes.

5. Get Prominent Furniture

If plain isn’t your thing, let your furniture do the talking. Although you still want to keep things to calm yet vibrant, try using vibrant prints on your cushions. Keep the carpet and curtains simple, but let your couch do the talking. You can also hang some bright and colorful artwork on your wall to spruce up the place.

6. Go With Basic Colors

Neutral tones like white, gray and brown are the best tones to go with, as they help provide beautiful shades of color without making major changes, while giving character. It’ll also blend easily with decors like paintings and photographs you have, without washing it out.
