We all love the Beatles, but we never actually knew what really happened. Now Yoko Ono is revealing yet another wrinkle in the decades-long mystery of precisely why the Beatles called it quits.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono gets to the details on why the band ‘divorced’. Though Yoko Ono maintained that Lennon was “feeling very good about” the breakup, she admitted that there were tensions forming within the band. According to the interview, she said “The Beatles were getting very independent and each of them were starting to do their own thing. But at the end of the day, Paul McCartney was trying to hold the Beatles together. But there other three members thought Paul wold hold the Beatles together as his band. Yoko Ono said, “They were fetting to be like Paul’s band, which they didn’t like.”
Yoko Ono also said that the breakup on the band strained on her relationship with Lennon, noting that she felt the Lennon missed his bandmates and “expected all that to be replaced by me”
