Through out the year, we’ve heard a handful of catchy songs that just never seem to vanish – these songs are usually turned into parodies and well… we are putting together the best of the best through out the entire year of 2012. From Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ to the most recent ‘Gangnam Style’ it’s just never ending.
1. Somebody That I Used To Know – Gotye
“But you didn’t have to cut me off….” This song was the over-played hit that infested all the radio channels and ofcourse, with ever hit song comes a catchy video. The music for Somebody That I Used To Know was a stop motion kind of video that was different than a lot of things happening at that time. When the parodies came along, we couldn’t help but go through all the parodies for this song in particular. Our utmost favorite one would have to be the Star Wars interpretation of the song. It was classic.

2. Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen
Until now, when this song plays on the radio, you can’t help but sing along… right? Well, this was a song EVERYONE had to make a parody of this year. There are just too many to choose from… But ofcourse, our favorite parody would have to be the one with all the Abercrombie & Fitch models were in. Do we need to explain why? Take a look at the other parodies HERE!

3. What Makes You Beautiful – One Direction
We know for sure that One Direction were the ‘IT’ boys of the year – hit after hit fan girls just pour all over these boys. A bunch of Austrialian men thought they could do the same thing… obviously, the were wrong. Naming theirselves ‘No Direction’ they do a parody cover of 1D’s hit song, “What Makes You Beautiful”… Tell us what you think.

4. We Are Young – Fun.
This song was the first song that really brought out Fun. with that ‘i’m young and free’ feel – someone was bound to make a joke out of it. This time they turned the song into ‘We Are Drunk’ – take a look at how that turned out…

5. Gangnam Style – PSY
This is a given… and it is STILL one of those songs that people continously make parodies over. Without a doubt though, our favorite version is the one local boy, JinnyBoy put together called ‘Oppa KL Style’ – featuring several local celebrities and just a view on Malaysia in general. But, there are so many more parodies that we loved too, check them out HERE!
