At least 27 people were shot and killed on Friday (14th December) at a Connecticut elementary school. According to reports, at least 20 of the victims were children and the rest teachers. The gunman himself was shot too.
The guman behind this entire tragedy was 24-year-old man named Adam Lanza.
It was said that the 24 year old gunman killed his mother, Nancy Lanza in their home – and this was before he proceed to to Sandy Hook Elementary, which is the school that his mother, Nancy taught kindergarden. The school had over 700 students and staff.
A state official said that the gunman was believed to have shot himself. Adam was in possession of at least two firearms – one of which was a 223-caliber rifle used in the attacks.
According to the police, they were shot and killed in two seperate rooms. The police were called in after awhile, and said that Adam Lanza had killed himself.
The police also said that the teachers reacted very well during the shooting, which saved a lot of other lives.
This shooting has become the second-deadliest incident in the U.S history, next to the rampage that killed 32 students at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg and also the movie theater shooting that happened in Aurora, Colorado.
