Hindi and Malayalam music composer, Ravi Shankar passed away today. The Indian musician, best known as a contemporary Indian musician with the sitar as his instrument, was admitted to the Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego on the 6th of December after he complained of breathing difficulties. The sitar maestro was India’s musical ambassador, and brought the classical music worlds of East and West together. He has won numerous awards, including the music award of the UNESCO International Music Countil in 1975, three Grammys, and was even made an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Elizabeth II.
