It was a night of glamour, but there was certainly tension in the air, as seventeen beautiful ladies strut their stuff to be crowned the next Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 in Setia City Convention Centre recently.
Carey Ng, a 23-year old architectural studies graduate who thinks of herself as ‘a nerd’, proved herself confidence and became victorious, being crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2013. Natalie Ng and May Salitah came in first and second respectively, while Symren Kaur emerged fourth place.
Much like her predecessors, namely Kimberly Leggett, Nadine Ann Thomas, and Deborah Henry, Carey will represent Malaysia in the Miss Universe pageant which will be held in next year in the United States.
“It’s something i never thought would happen to me. This pageant has been some sort of a benchmark for me because I wanted to prove myself that I can be confident”, Carey said after being crowned as the winner.
Apart from weight the RM500,000 Rafflesia pearl tiara as Mis Universe Malaysia, Carey also won a full scholarship to Limkokwing University, and RM48,000 cash. As for her duties as the new-crowned queen, Carey aims to work closely with NGO Architecture for Humanity to provide basic housing or the poor. (Source)
