She definitely has some massive talents – She’s a talented singer and also an impressive DJ, you guessed it right it’s Havana Brown! This 24 year-old Aussie has been hopping from Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris and recently she dropped by in Malaysia for Hennessy Artistry.
Havana was the fourth act of the night and the crowd went mental when she stepped in. The thing about her is that she doesn’t only spins behind the deck, but she also performs to assemble a great show. Performed a quite number of songs such as Get It, You’ll Be Mine and the crowds favorite, Run The Night, Hennessy Artistry has never been better.
We had the chance to talk to her about her life, her future plans and what she thought of Malaysian party-goers… Let’s see what she has to say!
Q: You’ve done acting before, in Neighbours – do you plan to ever go back into acting in the future?
H: Absolutely, I enjoy acting, but for now music is my main focus. I would definitely love to dabble in it again in the future.
Q: “We Run The Night” took the charts by storm – did you expect that? How did you react to the overwhelming response?
H: I can’t say I was expecting it however I knew it was a good song and I loved it. It was a dream to see my song in the top 10 ITunes charts and stay there for three months. The greatest feeling is creating something closely connected to you which others take a liking to as well. I think the audience (at H-Artistry) enjoyed it; it’s a very catchy song involving the club and pop world together. When you have both elements together and people are able to dance and sing along together it makes for a great song.
Q: What do you think of Malaysian party goers? Did you enjoy performing at H-Artistry?
H: They know how to let loose and enjoy the music and I always love a crowd that is able to live in the moment. That is the way i felt during the H-Artistry event. It could also have been due to lots of drinks and great music!
Q: Who has influenced you as a DJ?
H: I was very inspired by DJ AM, he was a great DJ who sadly passed away a few years ago. It was his ability to mess around with music, mix and match genres and being bold and daring heavily influenced me. He could really shock the crowd by dropping a classic rock tune like ACDC and make it work, and the excitement factor would remain throughout his entire set. It inspired me to take rsis, trust my instincts and be myself.
Q: When can we expect your debut album to come out?
H: I have the “When the lights go out” EP out right now which is a teaser of my up and coming album with 5 songs on it. You can expect to see it out early next year. Malaysians can visit my youtube Channel; HavanaBrownTV and my facebook page to receive updates on the album.
The EP has got some cheekiness, it’s fun, it’s all positive, and it’s a feel good EP. It has an element of R&B as well, and a lot of dance and me trying something new with a bit of drum and bass in there too. Check it out, get to know me at djhavana.com.
We also had a press conference with the other acts from H-Artistry, Alexandra Burke and DJ Starkillers aka Nick Terranova . If you were not able to attend this H-Artistry, here’s a glimpse of what went down: HERE!
