The American Music Awards 2012 celebrates the artists and music that have been created through time. From all kinds of genres and all kinds of background, musicians are celebrated for their work and efforts. Along with the awards comes to power-kicking performances from Carly Rae Jepsen to No Doubt, it was definitely one of the nights that you don’t forget.

This year, the biggest awards which is, ‘The Artist of the Year’ went to none other than popstar, Justin Bieber. He also won three other awards on this night – and during his thank you speech, he brought his mom on stage (that’s pretty adorable). Other artists liek Carly Rae Jepsen and Taylor Swift snagged good awards and Maroon 5 was crowned Favorite Pop/Rock Group – which we were surprised about because they were up against One Direction! None the less, the country singers, the hip hop stars and the pop stars came together to dance, sing and just celebrate music in genreal.

As for the performances – the night was in high-drive with all kinds of pumping music and great performances. If you missed out, fear not, here’s a quick look at all the different performances through out the night. In our opinion, Justin Bieber did a pretty stunning job with his acoustic version of ‘As Long As You Love Me’ and Ke$ha was pretty impressive too.

Usher put together a medley of all his hit songs, and well, he showed us that he’s still got what it takes to make the crowd go wild. Watch here:

Taylor Swift sang her usual break-up song and the theme was pretty high and fancy – we loved her out change though. Watch here:

Ke$ha really got us wondering what happened to her. For once she did not cover her face in dark eyeliner and well, she gave a pretty thorough performance. Watch here and tell us what you think:
