Superhuman Showdown investigates the physical and mental makeup of the world’s most extraordinary people to determine the science behind their superhuman skills. Categorising their feats based on five unifying traits including speed, strength, endurance, brain power or skill, each episode sees five superhumans push themselves to the limit in a series of rigorous scientific tests. Following these stringent analyses in a high-tech lab, Dr. Rahul, Professor Whyte and Dr. Berlin then select the two most impressive individuals from each category to go head to head in a gruelling final showdown where they take their abilities further than they have ever taken them before.
We had the chance to talk to Dr.Rahul to find out his thoughts and reasons for being on the show, let’s take a look at what he has to say this experience:
Q: Who was the most amazing ‘superhuman’ you came across during the show? That one ‘skill’ that until today you can’t forget, and why?
A: My personal favorite is Gabriel Barbar from Brazil who could solve three Rubik’s cubes blindfolded! It was one of those feats that if I didn’t see it in person, I would say it was a magic trick or some TV stunt. He was a nice guy too, representing himself and his country very nicely.
Q: What intrigued you the most about working on ‘Superhuman Showdown’?
A: The most fascinating part of the show was the caliber of co-hosts that they selected. Heather has a PhD from Oxford. Greg is an Olympian and has a PhD. To be a part of this elite team and investigate other phenomenal people was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
Q: What is the most challenging aspect about being on ‘Superhuman Showdown’?
A: It’s tough when two people have great talents, but only one can be chosen. Really it was a tremendous experience and extremely fun, not a challenge at all.
Q: What are the aspects that you look for when it comes to choosing the ‘ultimate superhuman’?
A: I looked for two things. First, was the demonstration of the contestants skills truly exceptional? Not just amazing or rare, but was it something no other human in the world can do. Second, I personally wanted to see if under the high pressure environment of being taped for a television show, could they perform at their peak or was the big stage too much pressure. Delivering your best when all the lights and eyes are on you, is something that impresses me.
