Abuse – it can be either mental, emotional or physical but at the end of the day, it’s always hard for anyone to open up and talk about it to others. The fear that the person will be revengeful, the guilt that maybe you’re the one who is to be blamed and the state of being embarrassed because you did not know how to differentiate between good and bad are among the types of emotions which a victim may go through.
It took her three years but she has finally revealed her story to the world. Rihanna was physically abused by Chris Brown in 2009 and pictures that were leaked after the incident showed how bad her bruises were:

She didn’t look like herself anymore and at the end of the day, even though she was bruised badly, all she cared was about Chris’s reputation. She did not want the world to label him as a ‘monster’ (source).
Many were indeed shocked when Rihanna and Chris appeared to be extremely close early this year, they even released remixes which featured each other (source). In this exclusive interview with Oprah on the ‘Next Chapter’, Rihanna broke down as she revealed the whole ‘chemistry’ between the two to the talk show host. The 24 year old also explained that she felt Chris made the mistake because he really needed help.

Oprah’s impression about the artist was completely different from what she expected it to be as she not only got to know that Rihanna was not the type of “badass, hard edged rocker pop woman” but she managed to know more about the type of life she lives.
