As part of Tokyo Street Pavilion KL’s first anniversary celebration, Japanese fashion icon Ena Matsumoto.
Ena Matsumoto comes from a big background of fashion in Japan. She is a model turned fashion enterprenuer. Though, she is still a model, she is now the full time producer of Emoda fashion line.
We had the chance to sit with her and ask a few questions about her life as a fashion icon and her views on fashion today, let’s see what she had to say!
Q: Tell us a bit about your background – how did you get into the fashion industry?
A: I was shopping and I met this shopping attendant who was wearing really nice make up – after that I knew I wanted to be like that. Then I started to work in fashion stores – that is how I slowly got involved with the fashion industry.
Q: As a model, what was the craziest outfit that you’ve been asked to wear.
A: I did this commercial for Coca-cola for a product called Vitamin Water – I had to wear over 15 layers of clothes, all cut out to become one.
Q: What is Mode fashion style and how will you describe Emoda’s designs?
A: It is very different from others. It is very simple and easy to wear – but there a key things that are so unique, so it is not found in other places. It’s very fashionable but made it accessible to the people who wear Emodas designs.
Q: How do you feel about being a fashion icon?
A: Simply just happy about it..
Q: When was Emoda created and what inspired you to create it?
A: I was working in a fashion outlet – and I met up with some of the current directors and we just discussed the idea for fun – soon after that it all become real.
Q: Where can we find Emoda outside of Japan?
A: You can find it Hong Kong but we just launched this global web-store.. you can go to emoda-webstore.com
Q: Will Emoda be coming to Malaysia?
A: Yes, I do hope that will happen. There is a plan for that.
Q: What is the one fashion tip you will give for all the fashionistas out there?
A: It’s best to know about yourself well – and choose your clothes according to what you like.
Q: What’s next for you and Emoda?
A: To be international… to be known globally.
Q: What is the typical everyday outfit for Ena Matsumoto?
A: Ofcourse majority will be Emoda – I love wearing something that is comfortable but not too casual.
Q: What is the one make up item that you will never leave home without?
A: Eyeliner is the most important…
