“When people comment about my thighs, I just try my best to ignore them because I know myself more than anyone else and if this is my standard size, then nothing I do will help me become smaller.” – Belinda Chee, actress, TV host and model.
Wouldn’t that be a good comeback if anyone ever commented about your weight or body size? We had a chance to have a few words with Belinda during the Marie France Bodyline event which took place recently. The brand was indeed proud to announce that she was the new ambassador, joining the ranks of beautiful and accomplished women such as Irene Ang and Umie Aida. At the same time, the brand also launched their new Cellu Check Plus, a diagnostic tool which identifies ones Body Fat Index (BFI).
This was the little discussion which we managed to have with Belinda during the event.
Q : At the age of 16, your main passion was swimming but today you’re a TV host and an emcee. How did you end up in the entertainment industry and why didn’t you continue your passion in swimming?
A : I started competitive swimming when I was 8 until the age of 16. Back then, I trained before school and after school. There were times when I had to miss school for three months and when form four came, I was failing every single subject. I had to make a pick if I wanted to pursue competitive swimming or go for a professional career. At that point, I had achieved all my goals in swimming and I decided to concentrate on my studies. When I came back from Australia, I knew that I wanted to be on TV and I didn’t mind being in front of the camera or at the back. When I was given the chance to be in front, I went for it and from there I moved on.
Q : You are a TV host, actress, emcee, model and an ambassador. You really have a lot of roles to play. How do you manage your time and how do you handle all of it?
A : Like any other thing, I prioritize. For now, my daughter is everything to me. So if there is no one at home or no one can help to take care of her, then I make it a point to be at home for her and I will have to give up all these job offers which come by. It’s almost the same as studying. In school, I used to make it a point to spend more time on my weaker subjects. For now, I’m not taking up any acting offers because it will take up a lot of my time.
Q : What made you accept the offer of being their ambassador?
A : Being associated with the brand itself made me accept the offer. Since Marie France Bodyline is an international brand, and it’s every woman’s dream to look good, I knew that I needed that little bit of help. By being the ambassador of Marie France Bodyline, I’m confident that I can lose my cellulite. No amount of exercise and no amount of dieting can actually help you lose your cellulite.
Q : Being a public figure, it’s important for you to always look good. What’s your secret? What did you do?
A : I’m always on the go actually. In the mornings, I take a walk in the park and I eat rice three times a day if I have the time. Now it’s easier as I need to lift my baby and that is also a form of exercise. The one thing which my nutritionist told me is that I should never ever skip my breakfast. I try my best to only have healthy stuff for breakfast for instance oats. During lunch, I have noodles soup and dinner I have my portion of rice. I do not have any particular secret but I strongly believe that if you want to look good, then you need to take care of yourself.
