Warren Buffett, the chairman and CEO of Berskhire Hathaway once said that there seems to be some perverse human characteristics that like to make easy things difficult. Ooohhh… we bet this description fits in well when it comes to dealing with difficult colleagues.
It can be your clerk, technician, you accounts manager or even your office boy. We all go through that. If you are under the impression that changing a job will change everything, then here is the bad news ladies – no matter where you go, you would find someone or another who has a peculiar character and hard to work with.
Well we can’t blame them as we are all born differently and you do not know what they are going through, but where work is concern, your main priority should really be entirely about getting your job done.

If you have a difficult colleague which you are finding it hard to work with, then here are five tips which could help you out.
1) Be patient
She can suddenly start to scream and she can even start to behave differently towards you. Whatever she does, just be patient. When she starts to throw tantrums, do not respond to it and sooner or later she would know that she can’t pick on you anymore. Whenever anything like this happens, stay calm and breath slowly. Tell yourself that soon it will be over.
2) Play smart
Different people interpret things differently. When dealing with a colleague who tends to interpret things differently, play your part by explaining everything to them in detail so that at the end of the day, no one can turn around and say that you didn’t do your part. The best way to make things clear in your working environment is by sending an email so that you have a black and white copy of everything.

3) Do not take anything personally
Things at work can be harder especially if you are a sensitive person. That is something which you would need to change when you are in the working industry. Difficult colleagues can say harsh things or can spread rumours about you all the time simply because they have something against you. But at the end of the day, personal issues should not be brought into the office. Do not take anything personally and focus on your goal which is to get your job done. The only person which you should be taking instructions from and receiving feedbacks is the person whom you are reporting to.
4) Make that additional effort
If she decides to behave differently towards you, it doesn’t have to mean that you would need to treat her the same as well. A healthy working environment is a place where everyone pushes aside their differences and works together for the benefit of the company. Try making the effort for instance by just saying good morning or by asking her out for lunch. She may say no but you would never know if she suddenly decides to say yes. That is how you would get to know her slowly and build that rapport with her.

5) Believe in yourself
Sometimes it can be hard when the entire office goes against you just because you are a little different from the rest. It becomes worst when you have made a mistake which actually did create a big impact to the company. But here is the thing. If you knew it was a mistake, you wouldn’t have done it. Everyone makes mistakes and it is part an parcel of the learning process. So ladies, if the entire office decides to go against you and you are finding it hard to move on, the one thing which you would need to do is to believe in yourself. Believe in yourself that you can do more and you can do better. Prove to them that their aaccusations were wrong and make yourself seen as someone different in that working place of yours.
