Homemade Coffee Scrubs

A cup of morning coffee – something we all need everyday to wake us up. Ever thought about using a a coffee flavoured body scrub? We love its aroma, we love its taste but have you ever thought about applying it on your delicate skin?

According to The ABC News, researchers have proved that antioxidants in coffee can help protect you from various diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, diabetes and stroke.

That’s not all ladies! Did you know that coffee scrubs can do wonders as well? Hmmm.. a tiny little secret which was hidden all this while from you. Here are the miracles which coffee scrubs can do to your body.

Dead Skin 

One of the main ingredients when you make your coffee scrubs is to use either sugar or salt. These two substances has the ability to remove your dead skin and the dirt from your body.

Eczema 

Eczema’s and skin irritations are usually caused by oxidants in our body. Since coffee contains anti oxidants, the effects can be reduced as it will play its part as a neutraliser.

Cellulite fighters

One of the reasons people develop cellulite is because of the poor flow of blood in to certain parts of the body. According to dermatologist, Dr. Ava Shambam, caffeine based creams can actually help remove cellulite from your body as it has the ability to tighten your blood vessels.

Coffee scrubs are extremely easy to make at home and here is the recipe of the scrub which we decided to try from The Craft Bits.com.

2 cups of ground coffee

1/2 cup of brown sugar

2-3 tbs of massage oil or baby oil

Mix all the ingredients in together and you are done. You can choose to use it twice a week or if you do not have the time,  then just use it during the weekends. While applying this scrub, mix it with a little bit of water and gently massage it onto your body. Leave it on for about 5 minutes then you can wash it off.
