The anticipation builds as Ballet Nights announces the winner of the Ballet Nights Young Ambassador Program, Sophia Ong, aged 14, Gold Medal Winner of Asian Grand Prix Kuala Lumpur in 2022 & 2023, who will also join the cast of Ballet Nights Kuala Lumpur.

She was selected from auditions held recently at Taylor’s University, where 40 talented dancers from 19 different schools auditioned for the prestigious honour. The young dancer from Sri Wilayah Ballet Centre shines with exceptional ability in blending traditional and modern elements, as well as a style of dance filled with expression and uniqueness, making her the perfect choice for this programme.

Armed with talent and a deep passion for the art of dance, Sophia stands out as the best choice for this programme, which aims to inspire the young dancers of Malaysia.

‘We believe that our mentorship will open doors and positively shape the next generation of dance talent while redefining the global ballet experience.” says Maria Sascha, Director of Artistic Development South East Asia for Ballet Nights.

Maria Sacha also revealed the all-star line-up for Ballet Nights Kuala Lumpur, featuring South African sensation Musa Motha, the Golden Buzzer winner from America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, who also won the 2023 Critics’ Circle UK National Dance Award for Emerging Artist for his performance in Rambert’s ‘Peaky Blinders’.

“Ballet Nights KL is also proud to have Constance Devernay-Laurence, star of upcoming Netflix series ‘Etoile’ and winner of the 2023 UK Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Outstanding Classical Female Performance for her role as Swanilda in ‘Coppelia’ (Scottish Ballet); and Jordan James Bridge, a Critics Circle Emerging Artist nominee and a fast-rising choreographer in his own right and has already made work on English National Ballet. We are also excited to have Mara Galeazzi, icon of The Royal Ballet joining the cast.”, she adds.

Ballet Nights is a globally acclaimed production that brings together the best of classical ballet, neo-classical, and contemporary dance on one stage – creating immersive and unforgettable experience for the audience.
