Summer’s feeling of possibility and freedom is the inspiration for Donatella Versace’s latest “La Vacanza” collection, itself an abundant celebration of graphic prints, the generous use of summer silks, satin, and jersey, and of sunrise to sunset dressing.
The collection print is Barocco Sea, a new graphic that continues Versace’s rich heritage of prints inspired by natural wonders of the sea, as intrinsic to the House as its inspirations from Classical art and mythology. The print is inspired by two iconic Versace prints, the Trésor de la Mer and its coral, shells and starfish, and the ornate flourishes of the signature Barocco. It features across women’s and men’s shirts and matching shorts, summer knit cardigans and bralettes, a full selection of dresses, gathered jersey skirts, and more. The graphic is explored in different color combinations and material techniques including as a print in full scale and detail placement, embroidery, devoré, broderie anglaise, and terry stitch jacquard.
Tailoring is crafted in summer wool for a softer silhouette but keeps Versace’s signature strength through details such as the Medusa ’95 in compelling gold or silver metal, or printed silk panels across the back of men’s jackets. Tweed jackets, tops, skirts, and shorts recur from recent seasons, here in a lighter weight and color of dusty rose and ivory. New pleated dresses with lavallière details and the Barocco print are in colors of dusty rose, beige, or concrete blue. Standout evening styles include a cocktail dress in Versace’s iconic metal mesh, and a column gown with starfish shapes crafted in an embroidery of Japanese natural pearls, silver paillette, and crystals.
Materials choices are lightweight and fluid—silk twill, double satin, jersey with silk inserts, denim, terry, cotton poplin, crêpe de chine.
The collection mood, colors and materials cover a full range of bags, shoes, and accessories. Summer raffia extends from the Athena tote bag to sandals detailed with the Medusa ’95. Formal women’s Alia sandals with oversized bows, and Medusa ’95 bags and clutches are crafted in a new dusty rose colorway with fresh silver hardware. Men’s Villa shoes propose an ideal of summer dressing that can move effortlessly from formal to relaxed thanks to their soft nappa leather construction and streamlined, gently rounded shape. A series of sunglasses and beach accessories including bathrobes, towels, crystal-embellished travel cups, and swimwear, complete a full vacation experience.
The collection releases alongside two new images of Versace Global Brand Ambassador, Rosy Zhao, in which she wears a lavallière pleated dress printed in the iconic Barocco, worn with patent leather Alia loafer pumps, and the Medusa ’95 bag in crocodile- embossed leather, both in colors of dusty rose.
