Fashion footwear brand Melissa and Marc Jacobs have collaborated on a special capsule collection that embodies the edgy style of the American fashion designer and focuses on design, authenticity, and sustainability. Their two worlds collide to create extraordinarily lightweight, sustainable footwear which exemplifies their shared commitment to innovation.
The collection consists of three styles inspired by the colour palette of the Marc Jacobs ready-to-wear collection. Additionally, The Melissa Clogs and Melissa Becky platform sandals feature the signature Marc Jacobs monogram print throughout. The campaign features model Iris Law donning looks from the Marc Jacobs Pre-Fall 2023 collection while drawing full attention to the Melissa x Marc Jacobs collab.
Concerned with constantly evolving in the sustainable sphere, Melissa has been investing in using biomaterials and recycled materials, with carbon reduction in the production chain. The brand’s accessories are vegan, registered by the Vegan Society, and contain an average of 30% pre-consumer recycled PVC; that is, it takes advantage of waste materials that would be discarded in a standard production process, and its packaging is 100% recyclable, with 63% recycled paper and water-based glue.
In the Melissa x Marc Jacobs collection, this is no different. All products have Biobased EVA in their composition, totally or partially, a lower impact material partially derived from sugarcane with at least 25% of vegetable origin content certified by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). In addition to being pro-environment, this plant-derived compound is light and comfortable, bringing comfort to everyday life.
