As a local brand steeped in old tradition and modern technology, Fuku Studio is back once again with the Teno Sofa that pushes the interior and furniture-making landscape. The new product, now available at Fuku Studio’s showroom, directly caters to those with a finely-attuned eye for furniture that exudes liveable elegance.
Creativity Meets Perfection
Already boasting a wide selection of furniture that has been making waves with its fine craftsmanship and cutting-edge construction, Fuku Studio expands its repertoire with the Teno Sofa, highlighting the best in furniture design. Revering Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Back to Nature” philosophy, the sofa draws inspiration from Malaysia’s luxurious flora and integrates wooden elements that represent growth and liveliness, making it a genuine masterpiece that teleports you to a place of tranquility and comfort, especially after a long day at work.
Consisting of modular sofas of different sizes, Fuku Studio’s Creative Director, Quito, has created more than 20 arrangements of the sofa for its customers to choose from, which makes it suitable for mid-sized apartments right up to big bungalows. Through its own internal R&D, Fuku Studio developed its own latex foam which is used in the Teno Sofa. This particular foam is specifically made for this sofa model in order to achieve the highest level of comfort and ergonomics.
Upholstery choices at Fuku Studio are also committed to environmental sustainability*, and is certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX**. It is also ISO 14001*** certified with the ultimate goal of Fuku Studio purchasing 100% of products from ISO 14001-certified producers within the next 4 to 5 years****.
A core theme of colour combination and material play rings through the Teno Sofa, but as with all Fuku Studio designs, the colour of the wood and fabric used for the seats can be modified. According to Vilit Lau, Director of Fuku Studio, “Each piece of furniture designed by Fuku Studio is created with the utmost care, and is according to our client’s specification – and the Teno Sofa is no exception. As our sofas are made-to-order, the entire process takes between 6 – 8 weeks, as that will allow us to ensure that our products are built to last. Each step of production is closely monitored; and once production of the sofa is completed, our team will visit the factory for a last quality check before sending it out to our client.”
Blurring The Lines Between Art & Function
The Teno Sofa is a testament to Fuku Studio’s incessant dedication to unparalleled craftsmanship, premium finishes, and modern innovations. With its curation of top-of-the-line designs that are products of the brand’s long-standing design sensibility, customers can now experience the passion of this lifestyle brand and a piece of its exceptional mastery in the fine art of furniture-making in their homes.
Quito adds, “Whilst sofas are the most important furnishings of any home, they are large investments that people are hesitant to commit to, typically to avoid wear and tear on a pricey purchase. The concept of the Teno Sofa was derived from the Japanese word “tenno”, which translates to emperor; a central figure and symbol of unity for Japanese society. Much like the emperor, the sofa is the central figure of a household; it completes the home, and brings the family together. With that in mind, we made sure that the Teno Sofa is designed to be prominent, to last, but most importantly, to be lived in, so that great memories are made for years to come.”
Form, Function & Innovation
Fuku Studio’s innovative strategies and use of space also position them at the helm of functional design; a Frontierland of furniture that invites newer generations to the table. In many cases, urbanites, especially millennials, have distanced themselves from purchases without purpose, favouring quality and optimal functionality over mere aesthetic. Fuku Studio understands this well; and is trying to rejuvenate the furniture industry by speaking to this demographic of smart shoppers who demand products that feel just as good as they look for years to come.
The Teno Sofa is one of many new products which Fuku Studio will introduce to the market in 2023. It is now available at Fuku Studio’s showroom at Eco Ardence, Shah Alam.
