Looking for an adventure? Step Into the Wild with Cartier this September! Cartier is exhibiting its emblematic panther through a travelling installation entitled ‘Into the Wild‘. It is designed as a cultural event that will travel all year round – but from September 4th – 18th, 2022, you can catch it at Atelier 3, Sentul Depot.
Everyone is welcome to enter Into the Wild, a unique and immersive experience where Cartier ushers guests into the world of the panther.
The Cartier panther may have only been anecdotal when it first appeared at the turn of the 20th century, but it has since captured the attention of collectors of fine jewellery, left its mark, and has come to represent Cartier itself.
The Into the Wild installation traces the development of this collection of felines, which was influenced by Jeanne Toussaint’s vision and the deft hands of exceptional artisans. The panther leads the visitor through time, form, and space into the details of a now-signature savoir-faire in this fleeting, captivating experience. Here’s what you can expect from the installation:
An Unexpected Journey Through Time
Since its first appearance in 1914 in the form of spots on a watch, the immortal Cartier panther has traversed the ages. It reinvents itself in each era in accordance with the unrestrained desires of its creators. The exhibit invites viewers to travel through the history of the panther, while also engaging in a fully immersive experience in which time appears to pass on the walls as authentic documents, videos, and images from Cartier’s archives.
The Office Of A Visionary
Some locations are infused with history, more so if they are being used by singular, creative minds. The visitor is immediately immersed in the history of Cartier as soon as they walk into Jeanne Toussaint’s office, the fashion house’s first female creative director. The journey of this founding figure, voiced by actor Édouard Baer and created as a portrait-show, reveals the story of a demanding, free and committed creator through a series of dynamic projections. It’s a tale of how strong femininity became a way of life.
Animal Metamorphoses
The Cartier panther is an endless source of inspiration that is constantly reinventing itself, whether it be abstract, graphic, or naturalist. Visitors will get a chance to interact with this complex animal’s many personalities and facets in this room. From the most ferocious to the most docile, from the most realistic to the most figurative.
A Signature Savoir-Faire
It takes a combination of various specialties to create a Panthère creation. Designers, sculptors, casters, jewellers, gemologists, cutters, polishers, and gem-setters come together to create a single piece that meets the same standards as Cartier. Visitors can learn about the origins of the panther in this room. A detailed journey into the hands of those who, together, use techniques from the past in the present to create the high jewellery of the future.
Panthermania
The meeting point is a hall of fame with pictures of famous Panthère de Cartier enthusiasts over the years, including The Duchess of Windsor, Daisy Fellowes, Maria Carla Boscono, Chang Chen, Ella Balinska and Jisoo… strong personalities brought together by the panther.
Into The Wild runs from now till the 18th of September. Online registration is required. For more details, visit https://intothewild.cartier.my/
