Attention all jigsaw puzzle masterminds – prepare to be puzzled! In conjunction with Malaysia’s 65th Independence Day, Puzzle Planet®, Taylor’s International School of Kuala Lumpur, and Intermark Mall recently celebrated their record-breaking achievement of creating ‘THE BIGGEST MALAYSIA JIGSAW PUZZLE MAP’!
You read that, right! On the 25th of August, Lipstiq witnessed the unveiling of the biggest jigsaw puzzle map in Malaysia at the Intermark Mall, hosted by Puzzle Planet®, Taylor’s International School, and Intermark Mall.
Puzzle Planet® contributed 48,000 blank waterproof jigsaw puzzle canvas pieces – sponsored by Pintoo International – for 23 Taylor’s International School scholars from Years 8, 9 and 10 – to create the 15ft by 7ft Malaysia Jigsaw Puzzle Map. These outstanding students were given the task to conceptualise, sketch and colour the puzzle pieces with illustrations of what Malaysia means to them. The outcome was just heart-warming!
Taking into consideration this year’s Merdeka theme – ‘Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama’ – the map represents all 13 states of Malaysia, and features hand-drawn illustrations of what each state is known for. For instance, some of the illustrations include Mt Kinabalu, the Rafflesia and the Proboscis monkey found in Sabah; and the Oriental Pied Hornbill, iconic cat monument and longhouses found in Sarawak.
Apart from the mesmerizing tourist spots of Malaysia, our country most definitely centers around the scrumptious food we serve. Which brings us to the Peninsular Malaysia illustrations, which include local delicacies like Ipoh chicken rice, Kopitiam coffee, Cameron Highlands strawberries and more. Not to mention illustrations of handicrafts such as the Wau, iconic buildings, and monuments such as the Kuala Terengganu Draw bridge and Fraser’s Hill Clock Tower.
“The collaboration between Puzzle Planet, Intermark Mall, Taylor’s International School, intelligence partner Huawei Malaysia, and Pintoo International to make this record-breaking feat possible is a great example of the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) spirit. This patriotic art piece not only pays tribute to Malaysia’s beauty and multi-cultural diversity, it is also a great way to get into the Merdeka celebratory mood to mark 65 years of Malaysia’s independence,” – Prof. Dr. Jeffery Yap, Chief Operating Officer of Puzzle Planet®.
The unravelling of the ‘BIGGEST MALAYSIA JIGSAW PUZZLE MAP’ was led by Mr Aaron Bong; Deputy General Manager, Marketing and Events, Malaysia Book of Records, Prof. Dr. Jeffery Yap; Chief Operating Officer of Puzzle Planet®, Ms Kung Suan Ai; Director of Marketing, Intermark Mall and Mr. Peter Wells; principal of Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysia Book of Records title presentation for the ‘BIGGEST MALAYSIA JIGSAW PUZZLE MAP’ was presented by Mr Aaron Bong; Deputy General Manager, Marketing and Events, Malaysia Book of Records. Present to receive the certificate was Prof. Dr. Jeffery Yap; Chief Operating Officer of Puzzle Planet®, Ms Kung Suan Ai; Director of Marketing, Intermark Mall and Mr. Peter Wells; principal of Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur.
Apart from the unveiling of the biggest jigsaw puzzle, what really caught my attention was the mini vendor stalls located along the entrance of the venue. Gurrrl, momma was captivated! They sold the cutest accessories, and the fact that some of them were handmade was just fascinating!
Manning the first stall was the cutest grandma supporting her daughter’s business. Totes cute! ®Happy dumpy is an online business that crafts mini purses and pouches. What’s interesting about these pouches is that each one is crafted according to a Malaysian delicacy. For instance, there are nasi lemak pouches, Nyonya dumpling pouches, Ketupat Bawang pouches and Love Letter pouches. Legit the cutest sh*t ever!
Don’t mind if I whip out my fancy looking nasi lemak purse! Do check out Happy Dumpy’s Intagram, babes!
The next stall sold mini puzzle pieces that can be made into daily items. Some of them were puzzles of coin jars, puzzle key chains and etc. Totes cool! For some reason, my inner kid was leaping with joy.
The stall towards the end had the most beautiful Batek collections. If you don’t know me, you should know that momma loves anything shiny – and boy, was I stunned at these Batek purses! Batek by Rasta Rashid sells purses as well as clothes made purely from Batek materials, and each one of their items is simply fabulous!
All are welcome to view the ‘BIGGEST MALAYSIA JIGSAW PUZZLE MAP’ at Intermark Mall’s Ground Atrium until the 18th of September. Don’t miss it!
