When you get to a certain level in the world of celebrities, you’ll probably want to develop your own signature makeup style that you can use frequently. Newbies or experts – we tend to take inspiration from many celebrities who have their own unique, striking look. In Bollywood, we have Deepika with her signature winged eyeliner, Kareen with her sculpted cheekbones, and Katrina with her glossy pout. As for this particular celebrity, it’s all about maintaining simplicity and minimalism.
I’m referring to the one and only Alia Bhatt. Recently, Alia’s latest shows on Netflix: Gangubai Kathiawadi and Darlings, showcased a neutral and natural makeup look. With a flawlessly freckled face, bare lips, lengthened lashes, and finely shaped brows, the understated look created by makeup artist Puneet B Saini emanated a summery mood. This makeup look is ideal for you if you prefer simplicity, but want to try out a subtle trend. Want to recreate this look? We’ve got the deets specified below.
Glass Skin
The key to get a glossy, summery look is lots and lots of hydration. Start by layering moisturizing serums and creams that are appropriate for your skin type. Next, use a brush to blend a liquid foundation with a soft-focus finish into the skin. Make sure to apply it in light layers. One way to achieve this look is to blend your foundation with your moisturizer. To hide blemishes, put a small amount of concealer on blemishes and under the eyes, then blend it into the skin with your warm finger.
Brows First
Brows can give you a sophisticated look, even when you don’t have any makeup on. Hence, it’s important to nail this part. With an eyebrow product, make small strokes that resemble your natural hairs to create powerful brows. Use an angled brush and brow powder to fill in any gaps, and give them a fuller appearance. To fix them in place, use a brow gel.
Zoom-worthy Eye Makeup
One thing I love about Alia’s makeup is that the colours are natural and not overwhelming. It’s almost like she never uses any product! For the eye area, apply a light peach or pink eyeshadow all over the lids of the eye. Next, apply a darker peach or pink hue to the crease using a tapered blending brush. Buff and combine the two colours on the edges to create the appearance of hazy clouds. Apply the same colour with a fine brush along the lower lash line as well. This will give you a totally natural look.
Lashes
Lashes will legit make your eyes look more appealing. If you’re not a fan of eyeshadow, just by doing your brows and applying a hint of mascara can make your eyes pop. If you have naturally curly lashes, all that’s left to do is apply a volumizing mascara on the top and bottom lashes. If your don’t, just use an eyelash curler to help you out.
Signature Sun-Kissed Glow
To make your skin look radiant in real life or in photographs, apply a cream highlighter on top of your cheekbones, the peak of your forehead, the tip of your nose, and the cupid’s bow, where natural sunlight would hit your face. If you want to spice things up, apply a powder highlighter on top of your cheeks. To add more definition to your cheeks, dab on a peachy cream blush on the spot where your cheek appears to be the roundest, and be sure to blend upwards for more depth.
Faux Freckles
Freckles make your skin look flushed – and the good thing about them is, you can fake them! Using a pointed brown eyebrow pencil or brush tip, create the fake freckles. Start by placing small, light dots on the cheeks and nose. For a more organic appearance, make the spots small and dispersed randomly.
Hydrated Lips
You can’t call it a peachy look if your lips are dry and dull. The best part of this lip makeup is you’ll only need a lip balm or a nude shade. Nothing heavy or bold to add. Apply a lip balm that is moisturizing on the lips. Start by moving your peach-hued lipstick bullet up and over towards the Cupid’s bow from either corner of the mouth. Cleanse the edges of the lip liner and line the pout for a more defined appearance.
To keep the makeup in place, set it with a setting spray. And that’s it! To complete the entire look, just like Alia’s, you can always choose to add a tiny bindi. Now, this is the kind of appearance you’d want to save for every occasion, whether you’re wearing a summer dress or a salwar kameez.
