It’s one thing to love wearing makeup, but it’s a whole other thing when you love wearing makeup but also have to wear glasses 24/7. Not only can you not see what you’re doing when applying makeup, but the glasses can literally ruin your makeup look. While some resort to purchasing contacts just so that they can wear and show off their eyeshadow-application skills proudly, others have to resort to wearing their glasses because contact lenses are too much of a hassle.
But don’t let your glasses stop you from wearing eyeshadow – Stephanie Hui, a TikTok beauty creator, has shared hacks on perfect eyeshadow placements, depending on your glasses’ frames. These tips are a game-changer for glasses wearers, and will surely enhance the look of your makeup with the help of your frames highlighting your eye look.
Wide Frames
For wide, thick-framed glasses wearers, your spectacles would typically focus more on the upper brow area. Thus, Stephanie suggests that in order to bring attention towards your eyes, place the eyeshadow on your under eyes, specifically in the outer corner. Not only will this bring the focus back to your eyes and balance it out, but it will also add some depth and definition to make your peepers pop.
Thin Metallic Frames
Thin metallic frames are so in now, with so many glasses wearers choosing them for their everyday spectacles. They’re also a pretty good option for those who wear makeup, as the metallic frames would bring light to the center of your face. So, Stephanie recommends that the best way to balance your facial features out is to pull everything up from your eyes to your lips.
With your eyes, use a darker shadow to create a wing, starting from the bottom corner and blending it softly. Next, place the blush of your choice under your eyes and across the nose bridge. Lastly, for the lips, choose a darker lip shade and place the product at the outer corner of your lips and blending it in. With this technique, your facial features are more balanced and the glasses will highlight your makeup look, particularly your eye look, so well.
Rounded Frames
For those who have more rounded and darker frames – Stephanie’s eyeshadow tip placement is the best to highlight your eyes. With darker frames, it’s easier for your makeup look to be overshadowed by the glasses – but with this simple tip, it will hopefully foreground your eyes a lot better. Stephanie suggests putting a blush of your choosing around your eyes, blending it seamlessly. Then, put a tonne of shimmery glitter on the inner corner of your eyes, dragging it to the middle of your eyes to make them extra sparkly.
Darker and rounder frames will complement your eye look perfectly, giving that juxtaposing aesthetic – from the blinding sparkle to the dark and thick frames.
