Most girls love to spend their money on makeup, clothes and of course, FRAGRANCES. I am a perfume addict and my hobby is collecting different types of fragrances. Although I must admit not everything smells like heaven. Of course, everyone’s nostrils are attracted to different types of scents, but sometimes, we may all agree that a specific scent just doesn’t cut it for our noses.
Usually, you would search for the best perfumes and splurge on those. But have you ever wondered which fragrances are the most hated? Intrigued by this, I did my own little research and came up with a list of fragrances that women all over the world just seem to HATE. So, just in case you’re looking for your next fragrance, here are some of the perfumes you should not even consider testing – according to results online.
1. Yves Saint Lauren Beauty Parisienne Eau de Parfum
One would think a Saint Lauren fragrance would smell divine. Apparently, that’s not the case with this one. According to women, this perfume legit screams “old lady” and most definitely does not smell youthful at all.
It’s a musky and woody scent with a touch of floral. One reviewer said: “it smells like grandmother and trees” – GIRL, what even? This perfume is said to smell like cheap, rose-scented baby powder. Yeah, I don’t think you wanna waste that much on a perfume that smells like a cheap grandma.
But if you own this and you love it, I humbly ask for your forgiveness.
2. Clinique Aromatics Elixir
Straight-up judging from the packaging, I would actually think it smells good. The comments online, however, are highly negative towards this scent. It’s a classic “old lady in a bottle” fragrance. It’s overpowering and one spritz makes you smell like a “sickeningly thick aroma” for the whole day. If you get nauseous easily I suggest you do not go near this scent.
3. Lancome Magnifique Eau de Parfum
Well, there is nothing magnifique about this one. Not only is this incredibly strong and heavy, it doesn’t wash off easily and leaves a weird, lingering scent that people around you are not going to appreciate. Someone even commented that it doesn’t last, so it’s really a waste of money, especially for a perfume that manages to smell cheaper than it costs.
4. Carolina Herrera Good Girl
Now to me, this looks like an iconic perfume, mostly because of its packaging. But, smell-wise, it’s the most hated scent – according to women in a research conducted by Anna Bey (click to visit her YouTube channel). The Carolina Herrera, Good Girl perfume is made up of white floral, warm spicy, cacao, vanilla and tuberose accords. It’s a feminine fragrance that has a lingering, powdery smell.
The other, not so exciting thing about this fragrance is that it smells like a Plain Jane’s perfume. Although the packaging is really cute, there’s really nothing unique about this scent. So, girls, if this is on your to-purchase list, you might wanna reconsider.
5. Giorgio Armani Si
A floral fragrance with hints of vanilla and a touch of nectar – according to Giorgio Armani, Si smells like sophistication. Now that’s interesting, because how would you know what sophistication in a bottle smells like? Anyways, it’s supposed to evolve when you least expect it – and I think that the least expected thing here is that most women really don’t seem to favour this scent on them.
6. La Vie Est Belle Lancome
And Lancome makes it to the list, again. A floral perfume that has patchouli, Arabian jasmine sambac, with warm vanilla and spun sugar – whatever the hell spun sugar means. This perfume was also voted the most disliked scent among women. According to women online, La Vie Est Belle isn’t really a pleasant odour and it tends to linger in your nostrils even after walking away from it.
It’s a feminine fragrance that smells way too mainstream – and if you’d like a unique and distinctive fragrance, then you should totes keep your money away from this one.
7. YSL Black Opium
Now, I have not personally tested most of the fragrances on this list. But this one, I had – and my, oh my, did I regret wasting my coins on it! A captivating floral gourmand scent, twisted with roasted notes of black coffee that gives off energy and sensuality.
You wanna know what it gave me? A headache and it makes me gag. Sadly, when I sprayed it on, I did not smell any black coffee or toasted notes – and dis bish LOVES black coffee. Totes a rip-off!
8. Britney Spears Fantasy
Okay, sometimes, celebrity fragrances aren’t really the best option when compared to so many other elegant and luxury fragrances out there. For some reason, most women seem to hate on this one as well. It is way too mainstream, smells extremely cheap, and it also reminds you of something you would get at a supermarket.
Dang!! The reviews on this one though. So yeah, if you are looking for a celebrity fragrance, you might wanna kick this off the list.
