In the fashion world, nothing spells Spring better than dresses and while you may think that you don’t look good in dresses, it may be because you’re not picking out the right piece because there’s one for every body shape. Dresses are the simplest pieces and clothing because you don’t really need to mix and match with other clothing items other than accessories. Today we highlight our favourite silhouettes and must haves for the season this year.
PLEATS
Spring is all about floaty dresses that swirl and twirl as you skip your way through your day. Whether they start up high or after your waist, pleats are the first in line this season. The perfect pleated dress are usually those made with lightweight chiffon fabrics and neutral colors because prints can get a little messy and distracting. Try to get one that’s fitted at the waist with any type of sleeve because you can easily match them with blazers, cardigans or even crop tops! Girls who are on the heavier side will look fabulous in pleated dresses.

ECCENTRIC DESIGNS
When it comes to dresses the first fashion house that comes to mind is none other than ASOS. From midi to skater dresses, futuristic to feminine, its no wonder that there are so many ASOS-inspired dresses in the Asian market these days. Try unconventional necklines such as a square cut one or a tulip skirt.

ASYMMETRICAL HEMS
Bias hems are all the rage right now and just like high waisted jeans we’re sure that this trend will surely fade soon enough but for now it’s hot, hot and hot! This high low hem looks amazing on tall girls but not so much for the petites. They’re pretty hard to find at the malls unless you search online or at boutiques in Kota Damansara and Bangsar. Pair this skirt with a simple top and feel fairy-like as you prance around town. Go on, you know you want to!
PRINTS
Prints have been breaking through for a while now and if you haven’t we highly recommend that you try this trend especially for summer. Above is an animal print mini dress, but there are so many prints that you can try. Really wearing a print is a sign of fashion fearlessness. Large contrast print is always a good idea. Gathered and raunched designs are even better. So get your nerve up ladies!
PEPLUM DRESSES
Peplums dresses and tops have an air of monarchy about them and nobody wears them more than Gossip Girl starlet, Ms. Blake Lively. These type of dresses suit skinny girls or girls with boyish figures who are looking to add more curve to their figure.
The trick to making a dress look great is to get one that suits your body shape, height and one that fits well, though not necessarily like a glove. Not all hemlines or cuttings are flattering especially the drop waist dresses so the next time you’re out shopping don’t be blinded by the colors or how it looks like on the model because everyone’s different and what looks good on others may not be the same for you. Oh and one more thing, go wild with colors!
