Skincare products come from all sorts of sources, from plants to diamonds to caviar, but did what do you know about pure thermal plankton? For 60 years, Biotherm has been incorporating a unique ingredient called the Thermal Plankton into all their products because of its soothing, protecting and regenerating properties. The name Biotherm itself stems from two key words. Bio for skin biology and Therm for richness of water. The researchers from Biotherm knew how important water was to keep our skin moisturised so they took plankton samples from every water source you could think of such as glaciers, springs, lakes, rivers and the deep blue oceans.
To help understand the significance of Biotherm’s product ingredients, we were given an enlightening tour at Aquaria, KLCC. In recent years, new ingredients from this under explored aquatic biodiversity are already making waves. For example, scientists have discovered a seaweed that has antibacterical properties and can regenerate and purify itself while resisting stress and dehydration.
According to Dr. Elisa Simonpetri, Biotherm’s International Scientific Director from Paris, research has found many similarities between this algae or seaweed and our own skin so they are trying to find ways to extract all the healing properties of the former to incorporate into our skincare products.

THE BIOTHERM PURE FECT LINE
The PURE FECT line contains macro algae extract enriched with zinc that significantly reduce sebum production and boasts antibacterial properties. The macro algae extract secretes an anti-bacterial burst of hydrogen peroxide while simultaneously increasing its own intake of oxygen this halting the growth of potentially pathogenic bacteria.
This line is suitable for those with combination to oily skin prone to acne.

THE BIOTHERM WHITE D-TOX LINE
White D-Tox products are enriched with 3 natural active ingredients that fight against skin pigmentation at each step. Together, they form a complete, efficient and gentle brightening line. Skin instantly looks more supple and luminous. After four weeks, skin appears more transparent and luminous, and dark spots are visibly faded.
This product is suitable for those with dark spots, uneven skin and a dull complexion.
