Your upcoming vacation just got a whole lot better. The leading international travel and lifestyle brand, TUMI, has launched an exclusive collaboration with iconic streetwear brand, STAPLE. They’ve joined forces on a design journey guided by the world travels of STAPLES’s visionary founder, Jeff Staple. The STAPLE Pigeon is featured on each piece in the collection, which also takes inspiration from the global streets, which both Jeff Staple and TUMI use as a source of inspiration for their designs.
The Pigeon serves as a mascot for New York City and is an essential component of the STAPLE brand. Jeff came to see the bird as a representation of never giving up and surviving against all odds when he was creating STAPLE. Greater than the city that never sleeps, the same spirit permeates major cities around the world. TUMI, which is known for assisting every traveller on their journey, embraced this idea and provided well-designed, extremely useful items to enhance their journeys.
“For me, TUMI has always been the pinnacle of luxury, travel innovation and tech,” Founder of STAPLE & Reed Art Department, Jeff Staple, commented. “There is a strong commonality in both our brands between travel and performance, and how the experience affects your everyday life. I’ve come to really appreciate the value of well-designed travel accessories, especially when you are in a new city and constantly on the go. Design-wise, the hustle mentality that the STAPLE Pigeon represents started out as a way to speak to the culture New York City, but over the course of my travels, I’ve come to see that it represents this same ethos in cities across the globe. With this TUMI collaboration, we are bringing that spirit full circle through the unique and elevated design details in each style of the collection.”
The campaign featuring the collaboration was shot entirely on film by renowned street photographer and multi-talented artist, Jacob Consenstein. The campaign photos, which are set in and around New York City, reflect the city’s authenticity, energy, and inspiration in addition to capturing the usefulness of the product.
The collection includes five new styles, each designed for the modern-day city explorer and merging the hustle mentality of urban cities with signature TUMI innovation. As an homage to the place where Jeff Staple was born and bred, the map is lined with pigeon pink and has a New York City vibe.
From the roomy Backpack (RM3,700), which features a pattern inspired by the streets of Sao Paulo, to the compact Sling (RM2,350), which draws inspiration from Tokyo, the range transports customers all over the world.
The innovative Ping Pong Crossbody (RM1,350), which has a graphic reminiscent of a Barcelona tile, is a more playful piece and holds more than just paddles. It is the ideal size to keep necessities nearby and showcases the superior design of the TUMI and STAPLE DNA.
The Kit Crossbody (RM1,600), which pays homage to Los Angeles architecture, showcases innovation with a detachable strap that lets you carry it like a bag or use it as a travel kit.
The International Expandable 4 Wheeled Carry-On (RM6,400) features a complex, New York City-inspired STAPLE Pigeon camouflage pattern.
The collection is available worldwide on TUMI.com, at select TUMI retail stores, and at StaplePigeon.com. Products are available in Asia beginning July 18th.
