The highly-anticipated TSUTAYA BOOKS has officially launched at Pavilion Bukit Jalil! The first TSUTAYA BOOKS in Southeast Asia, the aesthetically pleasing and Instagram-worthy bookstore is a massive 31,000 square feet, and houses over 240,000 specially-curated books, stationery and decorative items.
Bukit Jalil TSUTAYA BOOKS features an impressive children’s section with over 20,000 titles in English, Simplified Chinese, Bahasa Melayu, and Japanese to cater to the local young family market.
The way TSUTAYA BOOKS categorises its items sets them apart from other bookstores. The selection of books will be based on personal interests rather than language. With this strategy, visitors from various ethnic backgrounds who have common interests are encouraged to embrace the multicultural beauty of Malaysian society, while enjoying their time at the bookstore.
There’s nothing better than sipping delicious coffee while immersing yourself in a good book! Customers can enjoy freshly-brewed coffee in the bookstore’s cafe, which is inspired by the widespread and well-known “sharing lounge” in Japan. The menu includes Kyoto matcha, and handcrafted desserts, like their famous Dorayaki and Fruit Parfait!
“For over 39 years, our vision for TSUTAYA BOOKS has been to promote reading, writing, and cultural awareness as tools to create and cultivate an enriched lifestyle,” remarked Mr Hideyuki Uemoto, CEO of TSUTAYA BOOKS Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
“We selected Malaysia for our first TSUTAYA BOOKS store in Southeast Asia because of the country’s projected growth for the future and the population’s strong interest in lifestyle and culture. Pavilion Bukit Jalil was the ideal location for our first store due to the family-centric community within Bukit Jalil and its nearby catchment,” he further explained.
Opening Specials
As part of the grand opening, visitors who spend RM500 or more on a single receipt will receive a handcrafted paper-cutting piece of art created by Hans the Craftsman (while stocks last). Customers who spend RM100 and more receive a free, freshly-brewed Americano or homemade lemonade from the bookstore’s on-site modern Japanese café (valid until 10th July).
Moreover, customers will also receive a souvenir bookmark created by the featured local artist of the month, Humana, with every book purchased. A limited edition eco-friendly BUKIT JALIL TSUTAYA BOOKS tote bag will also be given out by the bookstore with every book purchase.
Right next to the bookstore is Ainz & Tulpe, a Japanese beauty and personal care store, adding to the overall lifestyle experience that TSUTAYA BOOKS aspires to provide at each of its locations!
BUKIT JALIL TSUTAYA BOOKS is located at Lot 2.89.00, Level 2 (Orange Zone), Pavilion Bukit Jalil; and is open 10am to 10pm daily, Mondays to Sunday (7 days).
