How To Partay Like A Boss, While Staying Safe

Now that all nightlife activities are gradually opening back up, it’s the best time to hit the clubs and have some fun with your gals – safely, of course! As women, we are taught since a young age to be cautious about our surroundings wherever we go, so that we don’t fall victim to crime, assault or accidents. Unfortunately, for many women, the threat of an attack is constant – whether it’s during the day or at night. It’s important for women to consider all possibilities, so that they can be safe, while also having a fun time! Here are some tips for a safe night out:

Go in a group

There’s always safety in numbers. So, keep your friends close. This includes going to the washroom, walking to the car, at the train station, and on the dance floor (you don’t want creepy men grinding up against you!) And make sure to have a designated driver, so that everyone can get home safely.

Arrange your ride

It’s always a good idea to arrange a ride with someone you trust if you intend to have a wild night and no driving. Make sure you share a cab or a Grab with a buddy if you’re taking one. However, if you’re on a bus, choose a seat near the exit and in the driver’s line of sight so they can see you in case of an emergency.

Have cash in hand

ALWAYS have cash in hand! Yes, you can practically pay for everything on your phone now, but it’s still important to keep some money on you, and that’s separate from your wallet. It can be in the pocket of your jacket, inside your shoe, or even your bra! This is because in the event that your wallet is lost or stolen, you will still have enough cash to take a taxi home.

Charge your phone

Make sure your phone’s battery has juice to last the night so you can call someone if something goes wrong, or when you get separated from your friends in a crowd. Plus, this also means that you can call a taxi or your friend to pick you up when you have to go home – just make sure you have a good internet connection! Hence, it’s always a good idea to bring a cable or powerbank.

Drink in moderation & Guard your drinks

Know your limits, gurl! Always stay in control when you’re drinking alcohol, especially when you’re outside. Keep an eye on your and your friends’ drinks and never leave them unattended! If you must, leave them with a trusted friend so that you can avoid having your drink spiked.

Watch what you post on social media

Yes, it’s a great opportunity to post some sick moments on the gram, but you might just be putting your life at risk by doing so! That’s like giving everyone a free pass to come find you. Therefore, avoid posting your current location on social media, or at the very least, try to conceal the actual location of the place you’re at. Post all of your party images and videos after you have departed.
