Ahoy chicken lovers, if you’re looking for a meal that’s wholesome yet delectable then we’re sure you’re already a fan of Nando’s!
Nando’s is a household name when it comes to dining out among Malaysian consumers who are always on the lookout for wholesome eats for the entire family and are constantly innovating themselves to further prove that they’re not just a typical fast food chain.
“In fact, Nando’s has continuously innovated themselves over the years be it in their kitchen creations or restaurant’s interior design,” said Mac Chung Lynn, Nando’s Chickenland Malaysia’s CEO.
Today marks another special milestone for Nando’s with the introduction of the Cataplana. To give you an idea how the dish came about, the Cataplana is originally a traditional seafood-based Portuguese dish, uniquely named after a shell-shaped copper cookware with the same name. The cookware is used by the inhabitants of the coastal Algarve for centuries and known for its ability to retain flavours and aromas when the clamshell lid is sealed during the cooking process.
The innovative Nando’s team back in South Africa where the brand was born decided to add a twist to the dish by using chicken instead of seafood as well as the Peri-Peri flavour which is unique to Nando’s.
According to Mac, the only other place that offers Cataplana in Malaysia is a fine dining restaurant but Nando’s wanted to make it affordable to all Malaysians.
The Cataplana is now available in two distinctive variants — Cataplana Originale and Cataplana Porto at all Nando’s restaurants priced at RM25.90 and Rm26.90 respectively. Also adding to Nando’s Designer drink series is the new Rosa Fresca, a blend of pomegranate juice, mint syrups and Sprite retailing at RM7.90 which complements the Cataplanas perfectly!
Cataplana Originale boasts tender and flavourful Peri-Peri flame-grilled chicken thighs tossed with capsicums, courgettes, onions, ripe tomatoes and served on a bed of spicy rice.
Cataplana Porto is a delicious medley of Peri-Peri flame grilled chicken thighs, tossed with spicy rice, button mushrooms, olives and a sprinkle of parsley. You can choose how spicy you want your meal to be by informing your waiter during your order. We had a taste of both Cataplanas and we promise that every bite is full of flavour that it’ll have you wanting more. More pictures at our Facebook page here.
