Last week, Raja Ilya almost broke the internet when the actress revealed that she’s willing to go under the knife for a Marvel role. That’s pretty big, considering that Marvel is a multi-million dollar company which has birthed legendary superhero movies including Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Iron Man and Deadpool.
We’re sceptical — but why would an actress lie to the public, right? It’s not like we have google.
Surprisingly, Hyped Geek released an article few days ago which knocked some sense into our confused minds. Back in 2015, the gorgeous starlet announced that she is excited to act alongside Bollywood darling Kajol in an upcoming Hindi movie set to be directed and produced by a local filmmaker T. Anand.
In the film, she plays a Hindi-speaking woman from North India, who helps the leading man to achieve his dream of becoming an actor in Bollywood. But wait, who is this famous local movie director T. Anand? His identity remains a mystery as even google couldn’t help us identify the talented guy. He must really love staying under the radar.
The yet-to-be-titled Hindi flick was supposed to have begun filming in Bombay and Kuala Lumpur early 2015. However, the production had encountered some scheduling conflicts in Bombay, resulting it to be filmed on December instead. Raja Ilya told the NST, “This is a big-budget project for the director, so he didn’t want to rush it, especially since this is quite a huge attempt for the local Indian entertainment scene.”
However in the video below, Raja Ilya claimed that the movie will be postponed due to some political issues. The actress revealed a conversation she had with her producer, “Sir, media is asking me when are we going to start the shoot?” and the producer allegedly replied, “We have to hold on for a while because there’s a few things going on in India, like the political things.”

So what’s the 411 with Marvel? Although Raja Ilya got us shooked with her big announcement, no other prominent international sites picked up on the news. Unless if you count CinemaBlend and Screenrant in, who covered the story via the same source, Star2.
When asked about how she managed to get involved with the project, Raja Ilya said, “The offer came from someone I know from Indonesia who has already acted in a few Marvel and Disney movies. Now I just have to get prepared for the moment of my life.”
Wait a minute — an actor from Indonesia has appeared in several Disney and Marvel movies? For real?
Reportedly, there hasn’t been an official confirmation from Disney nor Marvel regarding the casting of Raja Ilya. No news from Disney Malaysia representatives either. It’s either they are being super tight about this movie, or the Marvel HQ hasn’t even confirmed anything yet.
Interesting.
