The Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off, which means it’s time to prepare yourself for 12 days of jaw-dropping red carpet looks, marking a perfect intersection of art, celebrity, glamour and, well, money.
It is basically the best black-tie affair of the year, since it doesn’t put too much pressure on celebrities to dress up according to the annual extravagant theme like how the Met Gala requires them to. Here’s the verdict: This year’s go-to looks at Cannes are thigh-high slits and lots of cleavage.
1. Bella Hadid
Channeling classic Hollywood glam vibes. The model paired her beautiful millennial pink satin gown by Alexandre Vauthier with crystal-covered Olgana Paris heels and a show-stopping Bulgari accessory, featuring a cushion cut 180-carat sapphire stone set with over 28 carats of pavé diamonds, a necklace that could easily rival Rose’s in Titanic.
2. Naomie Harris
Pink and pastel colours. The recent Oscar nominee for Moonlight stunned in a neon tulle confection gown by Gucci that seemed to be inspired by rainbows and unicorns. Although it’s pretty easy to look like a K-Pop band member when you sport too many colours, the actress definitely knows what’s good for her and looks magically amazing in this ensemble!
3. Emily Ratajkowski
The daring model was spotted attending the Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael) screening in Twinset. She basically copied Bella’s iconic Cannes look from last year (with the slit and all), but we all know who did it better. 😏
4. Susan Sarandon
Dude.. she’s 70, and looked smokin’ hot at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival Opening Gala! The actress stole the show in an emerald green off-shoulder gown, but all eyes were definitely on her eye-popping cleavage. The rest of the dress hugged her perfect physique as it showed more skin with the thigh-high slit.
5. Julianne Moore
At age 56, the Cannes Film Festival red carpet regular, pulled out all the stops for the Opening Gala with a spellbinding Givenchy Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci. We love the ornate embossment on her bodice not to mention the high neck and red leaf-shaped fluttering embellishment. The gorgeous actress just always seems to get it right!

6. Deepika Padukone
Let it be known that Deepika Padukone is the undisputed queen of the red carpet. No doubts. The actress set the flash bulbs popping as she walked the red carpet in a gorgeous sheer purple Marchesa ensemble, with bold jewelleries by DGrisogono to complement her outfit, and wore heels by Jimmy Choo that totally elevated her look.
7. Elle Fanning
Elle Fanning donned a hand-painted Unicorn Gown, marking a mystical collaboration with Vivienne Westwood Couture. The actress described herself as “a unicorn flower child at heart, mixed with a schoolboy and the occasional Cali surfer dude,” which has translated to the whimsical, fashion-forward look she wore at the opening ceremony of 2017’s Cannes Film Festival.
8. Coco Konig
The badass Assassins Creed actress wore a Ralph & Russo number which was featured in the Fall 2016 Couture collection. The sheer black and silver floral and butterfly embroidered dress is paired with black briefs underneath for coverage. She donned a center part waves on her hair to complete the ethereal look.
9. Lily-Rose Depp
The young model is sported wearing a dress straight off the Chanel Resort 2018 runway, shown in Paris just weeks ago. She is all grown up, and looks exactly like her mom, Vanessa Paradis, that we almost believed that they’re the same person! It pays to have good genes 😍
10. Uma Thurman
Another red carpet favourite of ours. The stunning actress looked simply beautiful in a Atelier Versace Fall 2016 number, channeling the millennial pink off-shoulder pleated floor length dress with a thigh-high split. She defies age by completing her look with a sparkly necklace, minimal make-up and a side parted straight bob.
