When I heard about Color Me’s Automatic Foundation Applicator Pro Edition (a.k.a. foundation vibrator), I knew I had to try it out. I’m a sucker for anything that promises flawless skin and as my search is forever an ongoing one, I was excited to receive the foundation vibrator.
Color Me is an American Brand who launched the world’s first professional sonic makeup applicator. Using the same sonic technology that’s used in electric toothbrushes, the Automatic Foundation Applicator pulses at 15,000 times a minute to mimic the rapid finger tapping motion makeup artists use.
But it still begs the question – can a sonic applicator really blend your foundation better than a brush or a beauty blender while staying on all day? Turns out, it really can.
TBH, I was a little skeptical that the foundation vibrator would be more of a gimmick than anything else. I was immediately proven wrong when I put the favoured foundation applicator to the test.
Using Color Me’s Automatic Foundation Applicator is practically idiot-proof – attach the sponge (which should be replaced every 2-4 weeks, depending on how often you use it), press a button, then go to town with applying it all over your face. It literally took me about 2 minutes to get my whole face covered seamlessly (kind of like airbrushing), which is great because I always seem to be in a rush.
The applicator basically does all the hard work for you, blending in the foundation as you move it from one part of your face to the next with zero effort. The sponge’s teardrop shape also helps you to get into tricky areas like the inner corners of the eyes and around the nose.
Though I swear by my oval foundation brushes (I’m not a fan of sponges or the Beautyblender) and always use it to blend in my foundation, I must say that this applicator does give a higher coverage and more flawless finish.
All in all, I’m genuinely impressed with the Pro Edition of Color Me’s Automatic Foundation Applicator for the convenience, results obtained and practically zero effort is involve. I don’t usually skip out on concealer but you don’t really need it while using this tool and I’m pretty sure I’ll only be using it for special occasions when I want a really flawless finish.
The only downside I see is the sponge, as Color Me suggests changing every 2-4 weeks (7-10 uses if you have sensitive skin), and the price tag of the applicator, which is a whopping RM289.
I’m pretty sure you can get away with dabbing at it with an alcohol or non-alcohol cleaner or wipes after every few uses (DO NOT SOAK THE SPONGES) before you need to head on out and get a new set of sponges.
But if you ask me, I’d actually invest in one of these. Mostly because I always want my #Iwokeuplikethis flawless game face ready at all times.
