All mah Gucci gang, where you at?!
Gucci Beauty has unveiled two new evocatively-named scents, Tears from the Moon and Love at your Darkest, which will join The Alchemist’s Garden luxury collection of fragrances.
The new genderless eaux de parfums are based on dewy Lily of the Valley and peppery Black Pepper, with two new animal icons to represent the elixirs inside. The emblems will be featured in gold on the covetable lacquered white glass bottles, with a carefree and poetic dragonfly for Tears from the Moon and a magnificent and bold hawk for Love at Your Darkest. The new perfumes, which are now available, are the result of a meeting between Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele and Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas.
Tears from the Moon eau de parfum
This sparkling aroma is based on a floral dewy bouquet of White Peony, Lily of the Valley, and Stephanotis and is inspired by the free and cheerful attitude of a dragonfly. The light and airy White Peony is a sign of wealth and honour.
Fresh with an animalic hint, it is enriched by the green dewiness of Lily of the Valley at its heart: like a dragonfly that swoops in with its paper wings, this smooth, sweet and delicate note signifies the return of lightness and hope. The radiant Stephanotis, also known as Madagascar jasmine, unlocks the secret of this elegant spring bouquet. With a pure sensual whiteness and fruity floral luminosity, as striking as the shining moon, it deeply connects with its own elegant warmth, bringing the scent’s notes all together like a perfectly layered bouquet
Tears from the Moon can be used in a variety of ways, one of which is to mix it with Ode on Melancholy oil to create a trail with a vivid woody finish that is both gentle and subtle.
Love at your Darkest eau de parfum
Love shines through the darkness like a hawk cutting through the sky with Love at your Darkest, a deep woody and spicy fragrance that is an enveloping combination of Black Pepper, Incense and Cedarwood.
The main note of this enticing fragrance is the dry spiciness of Black Pepper, which is woody and warm. Its multifaceted characteristics are revealed through Incense, itself a balsamic sweet note that wraps its sensual richness around the Black Pepper. This resinous and intense character vibrates with the addition of woody, soft and dry Cedarwood.
Tears from the Moon and Love at Your Darkest are housed in lacquered white glass bottles, inspired by bottles found on the wooden shelves of a vintage apothecary, odd pharmaceutical jars, and the first perfumery containers. It is finished with a green bow at the bottom of the bottle and a distinctive emblem at the top to denote the perfume inside, which is appliqued with a gorgeous gold foliage pattern.
Campaign
The new eaux de parfums are captured in advertising pictures by Arnaud Lajeunie, who transports the viewer to an opulent realm inspired by 17th-century still life paintings with their sumptuous and gentle representations of life. Tears from the Moon and Love at Your Darkest are among The Alchemist’s Garden collection, which appear like priceless jewels in their multi-coloured glass bottles, in an environment filled with beautiful antiques, fresh flowers, and unusual curiosities.
