A first capsule of eyeglasses will be released in late March 2022 as part of the collaboration. Tom’s first foray into eyewear distils the red carpet’s spectacular aesthetics into a pair of cat eye frames that can be worn by both men and women. The first drop was inspired by a 1959 snapshot of Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings in a photo booth at New York’s Grand Central station, in which the two performers pose and joke about. This spontaneous event is recreated in the ad, which honors friendship in its simplest form.
The design is ageless, yet unique enough to be worn as a trademark statement, and they’re made from recycled resources. The KOMONO x Tom Eerebout shades cost RM799 and come in three different designs: Nectar, Whiskey Coke, and Raven.
