Don’t Give Me Lip! Do We Even NEED Lip Masks?

To maintain the health of your skin, the most crucial part of your daily beauty regimen is… to show your love for it. There is a plethora of skincare products available, aimed at different skin types and containing different formulae, that you may use to keep your skin healthy. Of course, other aspects of your face, like your eyes and nose, should never be overlooked – which is why there’s an eye cream to de-puff and minimise discolouration, as well as pore strips to prevent black heads.

And how about your lips? Lip balms are available to nourish and moisturise your puckers. Also, you already have lip scrubs to get rid of dead skin cells and preserve their plumpness. So there’s nothing else we need, right?

It appears that the Internet disagrees with this, since lip masks are something and that everyone must apparently have to keep their lips from drying out and chapping. What’s the difference between a lip balm and a lip mask, you might ask?

Sephora

Well, lip masks are similar to lip balms, although the former is supposed to stay longer. Most lip masks are designed to be applied two or three times each week at nighttime to prevent lips from chapping, and you’ll notice how nourished and full they appear the next morning.

Lip masks, like face masks, are meant to feel relaxing on the lips and provide the impression of being at a spa. It’s a more opulent alternative to your standard lip balm.

So, the question is, are lip masks even necessary to have?

Well, if you’re the type to not bother with lip balm and are constantly picking at your puckers, to the point that they bleed – then, we’d say lip masks are for you. Lip masks are not as much of a hassle to apply as lip balms, as you don’t need to apply them constantly. Just apply it at night and after a good night’s rest – your lips won’t be super dry at all.

However, if you are a lip balm aficionado and have a bit of moolah to spend, then purchasing a lip mask won’t hurt your bank. Plus, it’ll be a great pre-step for when you’re getting ready to do your makeup and your lips are fully prepped and ready for lipstick.
