I find the most frustrating part of my room to clean is my vanity. Every time I want to do spring cleaning in my room, the vanity table proves to be a formidable challenge. It’s already a mess to begin with, and I’d usually have no clue where to even start.
If you’re like me and are having trouble cleaning your vanity, join me in going through some tips and guides on how to properly organise and clean the makeup table.
Throw Away Unused Makeup
As painful as it is to do, we have to. In order to have our makeup vanity spotless, we have to Marie Kondo our way into throwing away our precious makeup. Just be quick and easy with it and the pain will subside. Ask yourself “When’s the last time you used it?” and if the answer is more than 6 months, it has got to go. Don’t even kid yourself with “Well, I might have to use it for this particular occasion.” – no, you won’t, so it’s better to just cut the cord for the sake of the cleanliness of your vanity.
Use An Organiser
Purchase an organiser at your local decor store to ensure that your makeup vanity stays clean and organised. With boxes that are in the same form, it’ll make your vanity look extra tidy and well-arranged. Placing them on the vanity may cause a little disorganisation to happen, so it would be better to purchase drawers as well, to hide all the makeup so that your vanity stays clean.
Also, it’s better to purchase drawers instead of racks that you’ve seen everywhere (you know which one). An open rack like that may gather some dust bunnies, dirt and bacteria that will be detrimental to your skin. A drawer will easily prevent that.
Find A Space For A Specific Makeup Product
My vanity is very limited in spacing, hence why decluttering makeup products helps me to know which makeup product should be placed where. Finding a dedicated makeup spot for your products helps locating them a whole lot easier. Try to separate haircare and makeup products on your vanity, to avoid clutter.
