Pumps, sandals, boots, loafers, wedges, kitten heels… There are a few footwear types that are constantly in style, despite the apparently limitless variations. The correct pair of shoes can take your outfit to the next level, or turn it into a fashion disaster, depending on the situation.
But it’s not that difficult to choose a winning pair. You don’t need a million options – just a couple that you can wear with a range of outfits. That said, here are some basic shoe staples you MUST have in your wardrobe.
1. White Sneakers
Sneakers are a must-have for good reason; these flexible shows are about as comfortable as they come; and you can dress them down even for the fanciest of outfits. Any outfit can be made to look sleek, polished and effortless with a basic white sneaker. White sneakers are the ideal casual shoe for giving an outfit a more relaxed and carefree vibe. You may use this traditional footwear with practically any outfit, from jeans to dresses.
2. Pumps
This is one shoe I would absolutely spend my money on, because it would last me a lifetime and match with almost anything! Pumps give your clothes a polished and professional appearance. You’ll still look like a lady boss even if you match them with a pair of jeans! The ideal colors to choose would be nude or black, as they would go with almost any ensemble.
3. Sandals
Sandals come in a variety of styles and sizes, so you’re sure to find the perfect pair for you. You can’t go wrong with sandals, whether you’re fascinated with your sleek, minimalist styles or your taste lends itself to chunky sandals. Sandals are undoubtedly the most adaptable type of warm-weather footwear, as they can be worn with everything – from denim shorts and a T-shirt, to a gown. They’re comfortable to wear, adaptable, and will give you a boost whenever you need it. They don’t only come in flats but in heels too. Not too high, but just enough to keep you balanced and comfortable while you walk.
4. Statement Sneakers/Heels
When you’re feeling sassy, confident, and want to show off, these are the footwear you definitely need. You can use the color or design of your shoes to make a statement (or steal the limelight). Just keep in mind that while wearing statement sneakers, it’s ideal to keep the rest of your outfit basic so that your shoe can shine. But if you’re a bold, fashionable woman who doesn’t give a damn, then you can be covered in colour and glitter from head to toe – and still rock statement shoes.
5. Sports Sneaker
A pair of sporty, casual shoes is your best buddy for errands, dog walks, and the weekends. Fortunately for us, they’re no longer as difficult to look at as they were in middle school; sportier sneakers are just as fashionable as the other shoes on this list. Choose whatever makes you confident, whether it’s colorful, neutral, or patterned.
6. Heels
Elegant, feminine, and the ideal in-between alternative for individuals looking for a classy look. Even if you don’t wear heels every day, having a couple of pairs in your shoe rotation for when you want to step up your game or need a little lift because you’re wearing a long dress is a good idea. You can even pair your heels with denim for a classy look. What’s more interesting is that there’s a variation of heels to choose from – like kitten heels, ankle strap heels, wedges, sling back heels, platform heels, cork high heels, peep toe heels, corset heels… the list goes on.
7. Slip Ons
We all need a go-to pair of comfy shoes that we can just slip on when grabbing a coffee down the road, or rushing somewhere. Shoes that are simple to put on and take off are ideal for placing near the door when you need to slip in and out quickly. And not just that, these slip ons can also complement any kind of outfit. A pair of trusty slip ons never disappoints!
