With that in mind, we’ve compiled 7 amazing fancy coffees you can make – and they will definitely give you second thoughts the next time you feel like walking into a coffee shop.
1. Butterfly Pea Flower Latte
This ain’t your regular cup of coffee. Like, c’mon, have you actually seen blue coffee? Butterfly Pea Flower Latte is ideal for when you want something calming or to unwind before going to bed, or simply for a fancy experience. The milk gives this simple latte its smoothness, and the butterfly pea flower gives it its gorgeous blue tint – no chemical or food colouring here! Here’s how to make it:
- 1/4 cup Butterfly Pea flower (fresh or dried)
- Any kind of milk
- 1/2 vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
Start by soaking the flower in some water. Next, heat up your milk of choice and slowly whisk in your blue portion, maple syrup and vanilla extract. If you opt for Butterfly pea flower powder, whisk until there are no clumps. Once combined, take the mixture off the heat and use a milk frother for 30 seconds for a good looking texture. Finish up by adding some garnish to your blue latte, such as rose petals, coconut shavings, or any kinda toppings you prefer. You’ll never have a BLUE day with this latte!
2. Affogato
This drink, or should I say dessert-drink, is an Italian coffee-based dessert known better as “affogato al caffe.” A scoop of basic milk-flavored or vanilla gelato or ice cream is topped or “drowned” with a shot of hot espresso to make this drink. And you get the best of both worlds – bitter taste from the coffee and sweetness from your toppings. You only need two ingredients for this coffee, ice cream and of course, COFFEE!
Pour a shot of espresso or 3 tablespoons of strong brewed coffee over 2 tiny scoops of ice cream (coffee, chocolate, or vanilla) in a coffee cup. For your toppings, you can add shaved dark chocolate and chopped hazelnuts to complement the drink. Easy, isn’t it?
3. Whipped Booze Coffee
What could be better than a cup of frothy, creamy whipped coffee poured over milk? Adding booze of course! This simple cocktail combines coffee liqueur and milk, then tops it off with a cloud of whipped coffee to make your coffee look fabulicious. You’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoon hot water
- 2 tablespoon sweetener
- 2 tablespoon instant coffee
- coffee liqueur of your choice
Whip your water, sweetener and coffee till you get a fluffy texture. In a glass, add some ice, pour in your coffee liqueur and top with your milk. Last, but not least, add the star of the show, which is your whipped coffee. This drink is ideal if you’re having a party or for relaxation. In case you’re not familiar with the famous matcha – it’s a Japanese green tea powder created from finely powdered dried tea leaves. It tastes slightly bitter, but when combined with other elements, it’s MATCHA for life!
You’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 teaspoon matcha
Mix the matcha with water till there are no lumps. In a cup, put in your ice cubes, milk and pour in your matcha. Last but not least, gently pour in your homemade rose syrup and top it with some rose petals for an elegant look. Voila, you got the perfect pretty drink to enjoy. The ingredients are pretty basic. But the thing that makes this coffee in trend is most definitely its whipped coffee. And the best part is, you can use this topping for almost any other drink or dessert!
In a cup or a bowl, add in equal parts of instant coffee, sugar and hot water. You can use an electric whisk to save time, but you can also use a regular whisk by just rubbing the whisk handle with both hands. That’s a lot of work, but it’s definitely worth it. Whisk till you get that fluffy brown texture. Next, in a cup, pour in your cold or hot milk and add the whipped coffee to your drink. Simple as that, you’ve got a fancy drink made right at home.

7. Frozen Caramel Latte
At any time of day, this frothy, blended espresso drink will wake you up and make you happy. This delightful frozen latte is sweetened with caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream.
