Just the other day we were talking about how important it was to teach your little ones about the birds and the bees to curb premarital sex instead of banning Valentine’s Day completely.
One book titled “Where Did I Come From?” by Peter Mayle has been the source of information for many children (who are probably parents themselves today) for over 38 years that helps parents explain to children such topics as sex, conception and birth with silly illustrations of naked people.
However, our Ministry deputy secretary-general in charge of security Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Radzi doesn’t seem to have high regard of Mayle’s parenting skills and has announced a possible ban on grounds that it could be detrimental to society’s morals and of public interest. The ban is in accordance to the Printing Presses and Publications Act and anyone convicted of circulating and distributing the book could be fined no more than RM20,000, jailed three years or less, or both.
The ministry have advised book sellers nationwide to immediately stop sales until the review is completed and the decision is made. Seriously? What about porn then? Looks like we just brought conservative to a whole new level.
