Now that Christmas fever has passed, it’s time to look forward to the next big thing – New Year’s Eve parties! With New Year’s only a few days away, you must already have everything – from your plans to your outfit – ready to welcome 2022.
When it comes to a celebration like this, be mindful that there is plenty of room for unwanted incidents and mishaps to happen. If it happened to you in the past, then you’d know what we’re talking about.
If you have some happening plans for the New Year, then consider reading what advice we have in store for you. You’ll usually come across articles which share things you SHOULD do at a New Year’s Eve party – but we’re going to honest about what you SHOULDN’T be doing.
Feeling anxious? Let’s dive right into it!
1. Do not text your EX!
Single ladies, we know that alcohol will be pouring from every corner, but do not, let me repeat, DO NOT text your ex after you’ve had a couple of drinks. At some point, you might feel like a lone ranger, but do not act on your impulses. Re-starting communication with your ex will only lead to regret later on. Sure, pop culture has set immense pressure on you to kiss someone when the clock strikes 12 – but DO NOT send mushy texts to your ex who’s busy partying away and wouldn’t probably check his phone. So save yourself the drama, gurl!
2. Don’t pass out before countdown
Be prepared to down a number of drinks at the party, but don’t get knocked out before the main event – the countdown! It’d be such a bummer to miss out on welcoming the New Year when you’ve passed out on the couch or on the toilet seat. Go ahead, enjoy the drinks and party – but don’t forget to also enjoy the cheerful countdown, saying goodbye to 2021 and welcoming 2022.
3. Don’t forget to carry flats if you’re wearing heels
If you’re planning on putting on a few inches of height, ensure you have trusted flats along with you at the party. Of course, heels will elevate your look, but because you’ll have them on for many hours, it can ruin your mood and celebration, especially when your feet and back cry for help. Also, if your stilettoes say goodbye before 2021 does, you might end up on your bare feet. So, always keep a pair of fancy flats as a backup.
4. Don’t set unrealistic resolutions and goals
Have you heard the annoying phase, “New Year, new me”? Sounds dreadful, doesn’t it? It’s natural to plan a better year and see a better version of yourself when the calendar resets, but don’t go around announcing unrealistic goals and resolutions which you secretly know you won’t be able to realise.
5. Ditch the novelty glasses
You know what’s super cheesy and lame at a New Year’s Eve party? Novelty glasses! After putting in hours to look your best, why would you want to ruin your makeup and end up looking like a childish adult wearing those hideous novelty glasses? It was cool when they had two zero’s, but now’s it’s just getting ridiculous and they’re awfully hard to see through.
