The art of contouring is definitely the hardest makeup technique to master. YouTube tutorials sometimes don’t help, the reason being that because we all have different face shapes, contouring would differ from one person to another.
Even I have trouble doing it myself, so I would just stick with bronzer. Of course, bronzer is not the same as contouring and serves a different purpose. Bronzer is to warm up your face, while contouring is to create shadow.
Conveniently, I actually found a TikTok video that demonstrates a simple hack on how to contour that will make you a master of the technique in a matter of minutes. However, before I show it to you, we need to know the foundation we’re working on.
Contouring
As I’ve mentioned, contouring is different from bronzer, even in terms of its shade. So a bronzer would be on the warmer side, while a contour would be towards the cooler side. So, with a cool brown shade, it would easily create that shadow effect that you would need when you want to carve out your cheeks and jaw. Contouring products listed below are perfect to start off with if you want to master the art of contouring:

Contour Brush
There is an abundance of fluffy brushes out there, but every brush has a specific use for certain parts of your face. So for contouring, you would need a densely-packed brush for easier blending to create the “hollowness” in your cheeks and sharpening of your jaw. I would avoid using a blending sponge because it’s harder to control the spread of the product as compared to a dense brush. Here are two recommended brushes with which to contour your face:
SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Multitasker Brush 06 (RM93)

SIGMA BEAUTY F82 Round Kabuki™ Brush (RM106)

TikTok Video
Here are the TikTok videos that you’ve been waiting for. It might shock you as to how easy it is and how few products are used – but the effect of this technique will create a beautiful and soft contour on your cheeks and jaw.
