When your BFF is going to get married, instead of letting out piercing loud screams of joy and jumping on the bed, you are enveloped in an indescribable, overwhelming feeling. While all this is very natural to feel since you’ve been bestowed the role of the BFF/bridesmaid, you’ve got to pull up your socks, and get things going. Being the closest friend to the bride, you have a ton of responsibilities to fulfill, and of course, it’s all about the BRIDE!
In order for you to ace your role as the perfect BFF and make sure you don’t falter when things get overwhelming, we’ve put together a list of things that are expected of you. It might be the biggest day for your BFF, but many eyes will be on you, expecting you to deliver the best for the bride.
So here’s a heads up….
Help her trousseau shopping
When it comes to a wedding, the bride has an endless list of tasks to fulfill – from finding the dream dress to perfect centerpieces. You being her BFF would clearly know her taste in things. It is your responsibility to be involved in every intricate detail of the bride’s trousseau. Be there by her side to ensure the shopping errands go smoothly, and as planned. Always remember that it’s all about the bride. Also, be prepared to run around for last minute pick-ups or shopping!
Plan a pre-wedding, all-girl vacay
Now that your bestie is getting married, you might not be able to spend the same quality time with her because she’d want to spend it with her better half. So now’s the time to pull out all the stops and make her feel extra special by planning a perfect vacay with all her close girlfriends! Pro tip – don’t be afraid of going all-out crazy, because isn’t that what this trip is all about? This holiday will not only make your friendship more cherishable but make her feel ultra-special as a bride-to-be.
Throw her a bridal shower/ bachelorette party
This goes without saying. A bachelorette party is a MUST. It’s a big celebration for the bride as she steps out of bachelorette-hood and embarks on married life. So ladies, the party has to be lit. Do everything in your power to ensure the party exceeds all her expectations. Do not skimp on the entertainment and booze. Ensure you have everything covered – from the theme to all things fun and naughty. It has to be a party she’d never, ever forget in her life. So get all the help you need and ensure that you’re the best party planner in town!
Be by her side and assist her in everything
When the bride trusts you to be her BFF or bridesmaid, you need to meet her expectations. Make sure you have everything planned out for her big day. From managing her clothes and makeup for all the functions, to calming her nerves, you have to be by her side all the way. Ease away any additional stress that might be on her. She has to be and feel perfect on her big day.
Buy her a memorable gift and don’t forget the speech
Things can get very busy for you from the time you’re given the title of her BFF/ bridesmaid for her wedding. But let that not make you forget the importance of tiny details that remind her of how special she is to you. Buy her a wedding gift that will make her remember you fondly. Also, don’t forget to say it out loud in a tear-jerking speech, as to what an amazing woman, friend and sister she is to you – while also reminding her husband-to-be how goddamn lucky he is to get a wife and life partner like her.
