Some people love having a temporary ‘token’ of romance imprinted on them, while others just hate the sight of a hickey because they have to go through the hassle of covering it up.
As romantic as a love bite sounds, you wouldn’t want people seeing it and knowing you had some serious action, right? In addition, some hickeys can be downright painful.
If you have a love bite you want to get rid of, these tricks can do a good job in making them disappear very fast:
1. Cold compress/cold spoon
Applying a cold compress to the site can help to reduce inflammation effectively. One of the best ways is to chill a spoon for 30 minutes and then apply it on the affected area for 10 minutes. Repeat until the bruise begins to lighten. Alternatively, you could use a cold damp cloth or ice pack to do the job, but nothing works better than a spoon.
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is lauded for its many health benefits. It can reduce inflammation and swelling very well, and therefore is a perfect remedy for a love bite. To quicken the process, freeze the Aloe Vera pulp in ice cube trays and apply it on the hickey until it begins to lighten.
3. Peppermint oil
If there’s any oil that heals bruises effectively, it’s the highly-touted peppermint oil. All you have to do is add two drops of peppermint oil to 15 drops of a carrier oil like jojoba or almond oil. A carrier oil is necessary because undiluted peppermint oil can irritate the skin further.
4. Banana peal
A banana doesn’t only taste great – its peal is home to many vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants. So once you’re done enjoying the fruit, apply the peal directly onto the hickey for 30 minutes, or until the peal turns brown. You can repeat this two to three times a day, but if your skin starts to show signs of irritation, stop.
Good luck in getting rid of the hickey… until the next time! 🙂
