Yay! Pizzas for Merdeka! Okay, not really…
Knowhere Bangsar has just unleashed a mind-blowing twist to pizzas by birthing flavour-packed pizza lookalikes, for their new Merdeka menu series, named Pizza Kantoi!
“Kantoi” is derived as a word that is very close to all Malaysians as it is our beloved local lingos, meaning, “Oops… you caught us red-handed”. This campaign name is extremely dear to us, Malaysians and truly brings out the Malaysiana essence.
Well… let us tell you why!
You see, from the time of our forefathers until recent Malaysia, we have gained inspiration from other countries to build ours. We always assure our Malaysiana uniqueness is present in these inspirations and that’s what makes us stand out uniquely apart in every innovation attempted!
Just like our pizza impostors, they are inspired by the Italians, but we make them so much better because they taste uniquely and tantalisingly Malaysian.
So, Knowhere’s Pizza Kantoi series may look like pizzas, but they are truly Malaysian pies. Like pizzas, the toppings are customisable with any ingredient, creating different flavours that suit your taste buds.
So, in conjunction with the 64th Merdeka celebration this year, Knowhere Bangsar decides to flavour-bomb 6 new dishes with 4 all-Malaysian tastes.
We are not afraid to name them too, as Malaysian as it gets. Ready?
Oh So Lemak
- A dish inspired by our local favourite nasi lemak, we turn the ingredients into toppings and spiced-up sauces based on a flatbread. Yes, we added mozzarella cheese too!
Satay No Sorry
- The most unapologetically delicious Malaysian dish of all time on a stick is now on a flatbread. Just imagine the ingredients embedded in a creamy peanut sauce base. Fuiyoh!
Salai Confirm Lomak
- Step aside pepperonis, we have our own version of beef bacon paired with fresh chilli on a ‘lomak’ and mozzarella cheese based flatbread.
Huat A Prawn
- Our version of buttered prawn on a flatbread is definitely going to give you prosperity… starting from your tummy. Sprinkled with golden salted yolk dust, you may not be a billionaire, but you will sure feel like one.
Jom Apam Balik
- Ah, our sweet pie. With the tantalising ingredients topped on the peanut butter-based flatbread, we felt compelled to drizzle some gula Melaka on it just to drive your tastebuds crazier.
Biryani Fefeeling
- Inspired by the steamy, flavourful biryani rice, we made sure this Pizza Kantoi version can carry the weight of the real stuff and even better. It’s the sensation you get with every bite. Plus, we added apple raita to it.
Sure, they are not pizzas but you don’t need to be open-minded to enjoy mouthwatering local food, you just need to open your mouth.
In the Merdeka spirit, the Pizza Kantoi menu, serves these tantalising dishes with definite bold tastes, a positive attitude and hopes we, Malaysians are constantly united through food whilst persevering through this challenging time, still shouting “We are Malaysians and loving it!”
