Is it normal to have estrogen present in the body?

Estrogen is typically referred to as the “female” hormone. Testosterone is commonly referred to as the “male” hormone. Despite the fact that each hormone is identified with specific sex, both women and men produce it.

Women have higher estrogen levels than men, and men have higher testosterone levels. Estrogen aids in the development of sexuality in women. It regulates a woman’s menstrual cycle and influences her entire reproductive system, together with another female sex hormone known as progesterone.

Estrogen and progesterone levels in premenopausal women oscillate from one menstrual cycle to the next. Estrogen is also vital in the sexual function of men.

Increased cancer risk is an alarming potential health impact. Excess oestrogen has been linked to an increased risk of endometrial cancer, also known as uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer in women.

How is the estrogen level tested in our body?

There are three ways to get your estrogen levels tested in the body which are through blood test, saliva test and urine test.

How do we lower the estrogen level in the body?

Try incorporating food that is rich in fibre in your diet, like olive oil, and root vegetables like broccoli, kale, and cauliflower. These veges contain estrogen-detoxifying chemicals, which would help flush out toxins and neutralise the estrogen level in females.
