A clear and flawless skin is every girl’s dream, without the help of makeup, of course! Having a sun-kissed skin the first thing in the morning feels great. Your lifestyle and eating habits play a vital role in ensuring the largest organ of our body is well looked after. If you are experiencing unfamiliar skin conditions or ache popping up more than usual, then it’s time to look back and find out the underlying reasons. Read below to find out the potential reasons your skin might be acting up.
You’re dehydrated
This could be one of the main reasons why your skin is breaking out. Not consuming the recommended amount of water, which is at least 8 glasses, toxins in your body doesn’t get flushed out. This results to obvious breakouts and changes in skin conditions. Drink up and ensure your body is well-hydrated. After all, our body is made up of 70% water!
You’re lacking sleep
If you’ve been binging on your favorite Netflix series till wee hours, it’s time to give your body the rest it needs. Lack of sleep does not only affect your skin, but overall bodily functions as well. With a good and balanced sleep of 7 to 8 hours, your body is able to repair and regenerate cells. Same goes with your skin. If you’re well rested, your skin will be supple and vibrant.
You don’t change your pillowcase often
This reason might surprise you, but pillowcases and bedsheets needs to be changed frequently to prevent acne or invite other skin problems. Oils and bacteria from your hair gets transferred to your pillow. With all that sitting on your face throughout the night, it can cause acne, redness and even itchiness the next morning. Be sure to change your pillowcases at least once a week.
Your phone isn’t clean
Phones are considered to be one of the dirtiest and bacteria-filled item that we carry along everywhere we go. Phones are directly in contact with the skin, which transfers bacteria easily. We often place our phones on many surfaces, especially when face down. Let’s not forget that our hands too touch many things. Therefore, ensure you wipe down your phone with antibacterial or alcohol wipes, wash your hands frequently before using.
Your makeup brushes are not clean
After applying the makeup product on your face, the residue sticks on the brushes. If you do not clean them, the residue accumulates and so does bacteria. On your next application, the bacteria then transfers to your face which can cause skin irritation and unwanted breakouts. Clean your makeup brushes with a gentle shampoo until no residue is left. Do this at least once a week for a healthier skin.
You’re not eating a healthy diet
We all know how important diet is for a healthy body and glowing skin. To obtain plump and radiant skin like J.Lo, you have got to cut down on processed foods, salt and sugar intake, and incorporating more of foods rich anti-oxidants and good fats in your daily diet. Sure, go ahead and reward yourself with a cheat day, but be aware of what you consume daily, as that’s what matters.
You don’t exfoliate your skin
Merely cleansing your face daily will not cut it for a healthy skin. You need to remove dead skin cells by exfoliating. If not removed, dead skin cells clog your pores, which traps dirt and oils beneath your skin. Exfoliating at least once a week will clean your pores and give better absorption for products.
