Ed Sheeran’s wife, Cherry Seaborn has given birth to a healthy baby girl and named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. The proud parents were extremely overjoyed with the arrival of their little princess and the singer said the couple were on “cloud nine” after their daughter’s arrival last week.
The singer and songwriter, 29, returned to Instagram, since his last post in December, announcing the good news and thanking the “amazing delivery team”. He added: “We are completely in love with her.”
The message read: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you,” Sheeran said in his first Instagram post since December 2019.
“Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
The unusual but beautiful name Lyra means ‘Harp’ in Latin.
The announcement was made just two weeks after it was reported that Cherry was pregnant with their first child. At the time, a source told The Sun UK: “Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key.”
They added: “Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.”
Congratulations to the new parents on the arrival of Baby Lyra!
